  • @TTundragrizzly

    @TTundragrizzly

    11 ай бұрын

    He earned it?? NO ONE EARNS THAT! Whether someone “ rests in peace” ( the only way for that is in Glory with The Lord), is not what they do or how they act in movies, etc… But rather whether they accept with all their minds and hearts, what Jesus already did for us! Jesus earned our only chance to “ rip”. We surely can’t earn that! God will turn those away who are not clothed in the righteousness of Christ! By accepting Jesus and coming in humility to the Cross, accepting His forgiveness, is the ONLY way God will remember to forget our sins. Just being a good ol’ boy, goid actor, good samaritan, good citizen, etc. won’t do anything for our eternal souls. Jesus did the work and paid our price! He became what we are ( sin) , on the Cross, so that we can become like Him, after the Cross ( resurrected). And born again!

    One thing that was an absolutely marvellous piece of storytelling is that the music doesn't start until AFTER Lovell says "Houston, we have a problem." As a violinist/music enthusiast, I am a firm believer that music is as important a factor in a movie as the acting and effects, and James Horner was an absolute genius when composing this. But what else would you expect from a composer who also has movies like Braveheart and Titanic on his composing resume?

    Actually they were in fact probably pretty scared, but they were focused enough to keep all comnuicated information clear and precise. The melodrama was added in the right place, what was going on off the mic. I do believe they probably didn't bicker as much or at all, or on the flipside bond as much, but i don't doubt there were moments of panic, but for movie purposes they were highly compressed, there was definitely no blame game subtext with Shweiger, they probably knew pretty soon it was a mechnical error not a sabotaging button push

    They would have to keep their cool though. There was no time to panic, you need to focus in these situations. They were probably like most people and were terrified to death.

    It always baffled me how they "stirred" the oxygen tanks. After 20 years I've finally understand... Liquid oxygen!

  • @AlexandarHullRichter

    @AlexandarHullRichter

    Жыл бұрын

    Not even a mechanical stir. The tanks had built-in heating elements, as that was how you got the o2 out. The heating element would cause the liquid to expand into a gas and pressurize the tank. That pressure was then used to deliver the oxygen to the cabin, fuel cells, and main engine, without the need for a pump. 'Stirring the tank' was shorthand for briefly triggering the heating element.

    You re-uploaded the clip despite everyone in the comments blowing the whistle on the switch between "Houston we have a problem" and "Houston we've had a problem". You can see by the comments the people that experienced both of these versions and saw it switch. And it isn't simply a difference between the real story and this clip that we are talking about, we are well aware of that issue. What we are talking about is the fact that this clip changed from "houston we have a problem" to "houston we've had a problem" AND back to "Houston we have a problem".
