growing up never having met another aphex twin fan in person it makes me so happy that many people are so passionate about his music. he's been my number 1 for years. you don't get to many modern day motzarts and I think rdj sort of is in a leauge of his own. an absolute god like legend.

Aphex Twin's clock must have been frozen since the 90's. He seems to be in his own league when it comes to sound aesthetics and the sheer catalogue of tracks he's made publicly available. The kind of guy who would create simply because he wants to, period. It doesn't matter the label, or genre, or what people know about him. You listen to one of his tracks - any of them, and you know it's him. It has to be. He's one of his own kind and, in my opinion, one of the finest examples of what a wild, creative genius can do.

Prince had droves of music he produced, he said he was a slave to Warner? because they would not let him release any of it for various reason, mostly to pull as much money out of the people as they can without "overload", was one reason. They played the shit out of him and he tried to retain rights to his music but gave it back before he died, he did not want to be used by the industry.

Very well put.. and I completely agree.. with everything you write here! I am baffled pretty much every time I listen to AFX. But I totally do NOT understand, what Prince has to do with this..? Actually never really got the whole "Prince-thing"... at all! Many musicians had issues with their contracts, resulting in mutated realities and obscure roumers. It hazzn't been 24 hours since I heard some mumbo-jumbo about "Frank Zappa cheating Waner Bros out of 8 albums he owed them"..

Beardyman is like that, but funny at the same time. It's all just creativity. Difference is, Aphex Twin was doing this stuff before anyone else. Took years for the competition to catch up with him. Even then, noone comes close.

You don’t have to “get” Prince, or for that matter, Tesla...to comprehend that prolific talent is sidelined by industry in the name of profit and control. No one knows who Aphex Twin really is, so he is difficult to enslave. This is why Prince legally changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol and is relative to this discussion. It’s not about favored artists, it’s about the core principle of creative freedom.

aphex is one artist that will never change to fit the public eye or try something new that's not their style or name, his music is forever stuck far in the future stumbled upon the genre of techno and mastered it so hard that anyone who has a name in electronic music today by default has to put Aphex twin as the base level of all their inspiration. at first glance people hear obscure simple sounding music that seems to be made by someone with a scatter brain. never realizing this is the pioneer of all modern techno. the mid seventies discovered synthesizers and played around with them like kids until Richard came along and was like watch what all this stuff can actually do. the emotion of this music is so on point to something inside everyone. that need to jest relax and breath and keep truckin. but he does throw you curve balls at times with some of the more obscure songs that sound like electronic bugs all gnashing in a pile while strange factory machines are cutting through steel in the background. like Jesus he was one of the first people to figure out how to turn a god damn sound into an image with a sonograph. and incorporate it into a song. like if music has the power to open all the pathways into brain and spring up emotion like magic then putting an image inside of the sound itself probably has something more of an effect on the subconscious. btw the image he put in the song was a very odd and creepy as hell version of his face smirking oddly with his front teeth out. 10/10 would have nightmares again just to be near that level of genius.

Slacker4Life3 just because you listen to the same cookie cutter shit all the time doesn't mean that's all that music can be. most people don't fully grasp how to listen to music. they only scratch the surface on what entertains them. its when you begin to truly embrace the sound and get deep into the feeling of the song. lyrics or not you can get intense feelings and emotional reactions and bucket loads of natural dopamine in your brain that send shivers up your spine and goosebumps. sadly most people only get that close to music when on E pills and molly.

+Slacker4Life3 sorry for my rudeness tho. i get a bit salty when people hate on things they don't understand i checked out your channel and i see you actualy liked a couple of thiese albums. i suggest melodies from mars. and ritchard d james album also check out the song Vordhosbn on the druks album. i remember being 14 in grade 9 seeing this guy in a trench coat with glasses in the lunch room in grade 12 hanging out with this other guy who looked like the lead singer of Metallica wearing a Metallica t shirt and they were listening to the flashbulb and aphex twin full blast and the principle came in and shut the show down and the Metallica guy smashes his head straight into the plate glass window on the door with the wire mesh in it and Vordhosbn was loud and getting to the end and hes smashing his head into the glass bleeding and shit and they are like dragging him away and the vice pulls the cord and all goes silent in the lunch room after they were escorted to the office. truly odd fellows needless to say i became friends with them a day later and asked what was that song you were blaring when that shit went down and ever since then Ive had a deep love for obscure techno. flash bulb is another great artist of this category .

for 20 years been my favourite living ARTIST don't want to be like a Victorian river Thames drowning rescue and blow smoke up his arse but I do immediately judge people when they dislike his music & avoid them forever, as soon as I heard him I knew druqs is possibly my favourite album

Been listening to drukqs since it came out, and it still mystifies me with its complexity. How the &*$% is someone able to create such intricate music?! Apparently he produced most of Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount in a car on his laptop, while his girlfriend was driving on a visit to France.

The same for me. If I'm about to make the list of my best artists (I'm loyal with) Aphex Twin would be on top of it. Second would be "old" Bjork", and on the trird position I wolud locate a non-famous YTber Lukhash. "Pi"- ziq is also quite good.

I'm always amazed by his staying power, blew my mind, not long ago, when I realized I had been listening to Richard James and all his elements for 30 years. I was 12 years old listening to Whitesnake when I first heard him. I don't listen to Whitesnake anymore, not unless I have to.

RDJ knows how its done....his music's so good he doesn't even have to market it that much, and this keeps the mystique going. My favourite artists are those you don't know much about. So many artists these days love the sound of their own voice.
