    Baxter Williams Thanks for the love! The size of the Apex depends on 1. personal preference (as far as what size platform you like) 2. size of rider 3. ride style, so the 37 is totally doable; it's a matter of taste!

  • @originalskateboards

    @originalskateboards

    10 жыл бұрын

    ExplosiveElectrode It's actually pretty stiff, if you think about trying to land "bolts" on a street deck, the fact that you are landing directly over top of your trucks allows the board to avoid the real force of the impact. That's why serious construction, and serious dedication to improvement of durability is a big deal for a freestyle / trick based longboard like the Apex 40 DiamondDrop. You have a wider wheelbase so the board gets no help from the rider landing over the trucks, the decks gotta be stronger.

  • @originalskateboards

    @originalskateboards

    10 жыл бұрын

    Remy Fockaert With a 6pack like that, you should absolutely go with the Apex 40. But in all seriousness, at your weight/height, you'll be most comfortable on the bigger platform. As for sliding, it's actually more important for you to really get carving before you can initiate a slide, so work on that first. Hope that helps!

    Hello. I've been longboarding for about a year now. The only board I have is an old hand-me-down pintail. Even though it's old I love it and learned to slide on it. I want to start getting into serious riding and I think the Apex would be great for me. I'm 5ft 4in, 100lbs and 13 years old. Do you think this board would be good for me?

  • @originalskateboards

    Mikey P sounds like an exciting time to be riding! Taking that first big step and really mastering sliding etc is such a fun time to be a rider. Stoked to hear you are right there! I think the Apex 37 DiamondDrop would be a great fit for that style of riding assuming you want to focus a lot on sliding but also on tricks. If you want to do more of a focus on sliding and Downhill / Speed I think the Arbiter 36 KT might actually be a better fit. Two of my favorites, I've got one of each : )

I'm 5'6 feet tall my weight's about 45-46 kilograms. I have a caliber 50* v2 right here waiting for it to be used once I get the apex from you guys. So what do you think should fit me? Coming from skateboarding (and owning a longboard since I've started), I want to get into freestyle/carving longboarding, my longboard right now is an old hand me down pintail. Plus, from the skateboarding side of things, I can kickflip and tre flip on my pintail. So what would be a good freestyle carving board to get? I weigh 140 and I'm 5'10

    Austin Hughes right on Austin, sounds like you are seriously talented regardless of which board is under your feet. I would personally be really excited to see what you can do with an Arbiter KT. The street based riders I have known that have stepped on that board have really been able to transform what I have considered longboard based freestyle into something more of a hybrid. Some of them went to the Arbiter DK from there but I think the KT really represents more of an all around ride that fits you.

Super fun board, great for cruising around / carving (get a good soft set of bushings) great for tricks / freestyle and as mentioned, slide focus as well. Any questions, hit us up!

    Hey Kandi, looks like Apex 37 DiamondDrop with Caliber 2's (in the Satin Blue, my guess is 50 degree truck baseplates) the wheels I am not 100% sure about, will reach out to Tom to try to confirm what hes got on there. Personally I really like Volante Mini-Checkers for most types of riding / tricks etc but right now I have Volante Checkers on since they have a little more size (70mm vs 65mm) more urethane to wear away on the hills. I like the 65mm Mini Checkers since they are lighter.

    RojeX 127 sounds like a great fit if you want to maintain that high end carving ability while also adding some more serious slide specific performance and a HUGE amount of durability for tricks etc. If you are on medium or larger hills I might think about jumping up to the Apex 40 instead just to get a little more space for a serious stance, particularly if you think you might get a little taller / grow a little bit. All together sounds like the start of a great quiver to me!

    Jules Weiss the DiamondDrop is certainly one of the easiest to break free. There are a couple of other decks that I teach people on that also work really well; The Baffle 37 is the first one. Its super easy to initiate and great for spinning slides. I think it's best for progressing but maybe not quite as easy to break free initially as the DiamondDrop or the Drop Freeride 41. I learned a lot of my slides on the Drop Freeride which is the least expensive, though I think I like the Baffle and DD more.

    Hey OG, I was wondering if you guys would ever make a flexy board. I'm looking for a new flexy cruiser but not an Apex, more of a top mount like the Loaded Vanguard. If you guys can use the same shape of the Vanguard and make it more flexy but a little bit shorter and with concave i would buy a few ;)

    Justin Knight Hey Justin - thanks for the ideas. What kind of riding are you interested in doing? What size deck fits you as a rider?

    Longboards by Original Skateboards I don't mind deck sizes around 34-40. I already got a Loaded Dervish, but it would be cool if you guys came out with a Loaded Vanguard with concave and choices of smaller length wise. Also add it to be drop through. And with a big kicktail, i like those kicks ;)

    Justin Knight Ahh, yeah when you start talking big kicks and drop through it gets tough! Basically those two work against each other. We usually tend to go with a drop instead all though the Drop Freeride 41 is popular and that is drop through, drop down with a kick. I think the Maven 35 or Venter 37 is probably the closest to what you are talking about, but maybe more focused on downhill vs carving.

    MammutDisign how tall and how heavy are you? Also what kind of riding are you looking at doing? As for the wheels and trucks, knowing the type of riding you want to do and the board you are going to be doing it on is critical. For stuff like you see the guys doing in this video the Apex 37 or Apex 40 DiamondDrop is killer, I personally really like Volante Mini-Checkers for freestyle. As far as trucks I feel like Caliber 50s or Paris V2s work well with the Apexes for this sort of stuff.

    Octopus Productions Th Apex DD 40 is awesome for freestyle; it's our flagship freestyle-freeride board due to the concave and construction (quad axial fiberglass). Deciding on the size of the platform is also about the size of the rider. What's your weight/height?

    Octopus Productions At your height/weight, the Apex 37 is absolutely the perfect size for freestyle. If you plan on growing a whole bunch, then go with the 40.

    Philipp Original yeah no prob i'd actually start with 180 slides with no gloves they were the easiest fo me to learn, i would actually try it on a wet street (while it rains) then sliding will be very easy, just stand balanced on the board and then try to slide the back wheels out and get the feeling for it, then you can go all around the 180. once you got the feeling for them, go out when the street is dry and try it again, it will be very hard and scary but since you already have the feeling for it you'll get it. just commit! good luck hit me up when you have questions or problems :) they are hard when starting

    Lars Tanghe Absolutely. You can set this board up with Original Trucks, and you'll be able to turn on a dime. The great thing about this is board is that as you get more advanced, you won't be able to change your deck out because it's good for riders from beginner to advanced. What's your weight/height?

  • @originalskateboards

    @originalskateboards

    10 жыл бұрын

    H000000i The Apex is at that price because it's made from quad axial fiberglass, which is stronger than a wood board. That being said, we even drove a car over it, and it was fine to ride. In the long run, you're saving money because you're likely to break a wood board and have to buy another one, while the Apex will still be intact after years of thrashing. That's the long answer. The short answer: yes. Are you thinking about getting one?
