copeland stay home as long as you can. I moved out at 18 and have worked my ass off renting and paying someone else's morgage never able to save for my own home. My friends all stayed home til 25 28 and all own homes. Please stay home save ur $$

I love all the charm of this apartment...

I am obsessed with the apartment it's is beautiful. The white dresser thing, in the living room, you could put fabric on the doors of it. It would add texture and a pop of color. It's actually a really good piece. I noticed that this video is two years old. Hopefully you still have that piece.

2 corner shelfs will fit under the pedestal sink for off floor storage & add mirror on wall above towel rack. Kitchen is cool w/ stainless & window. another wall in kitchen can use a mirror to reflect light & space. Use space above cabinets. Curtin the entire window wall in living space ...it will make the room look larger. Wall lamps on both sides of the bed. Little niches in wall @ end of bed...wall shelves up to ceiling for "books, storage , etc.

Switch out the chair and the storage thing and let the surface of that white cabinet be the table for your bar move the chair in that place add a small tAble next to it

She said the livingroom is big by New York standards. Not true. It is large based on what you can afford. I have been in large NY apartments with huge living rooms, but those people can afford to live in NY, the way you should live in NY. I can't imagine wanting to live in NY bad enough to live in an unlivable space.

a bar cart on that back wall would look really cool or you could get a table that is long and shallow in depth and that could be a bar area that you could dress up with a lamp, candle, cute plant like a succulent. something minimalist and modern, kind of like a Scandinavian design is that makes sense :)

maybe turn the bed around and position it in the corner, so you're looking towards the door and bring in two side by side small dressers for you and a lamp hanging or floor type.

Maybe one of those tall looking tree plants in the living room. Oh and one of those clothes rack in the bedroom. Cute apartment.

If you still have that ikea stand in your living room add some type of cute handles from the Hardware store to jazz it up

Great light coming in the living room, but no window treatment? Don't the "gawkers" across know every move you make in that room? I would definitely get a simple draw up from the base style...so during day hours could be open, and later draw it up from the base but light still comes from the top.

Maybe sum kind of shelf on the wall with plant & one of those comfy cushion puff balls to put on the floor. Lol I forgot what there called but there adorable

you could put a mini console table next to the mirror in the living room and then put the gallery wall above that. then above the couch, put a neon sign or a woven tapestry or both. or you could do the gallery wall over the couch and then the woven tapestry or neon light over the console. idk the wall across the living room window looked a bit lonely.

and if the console takes up too much leg room, yall could always just put a potted plant either banana leaves or like a cactus. ALSO if ur landlord lets you, yall could paint that wall navy or royalish blue as a cute accent color. if ur not allowed to paint, then textured removable wallpaper could work too. I think urban outfitters has some.

then for the bedroom, i think yall should go with a lofted bed, sort of like a bunk bc it would give you way more options to decorate the bedroom. you mentioned yall had high cielings. so if you were to do like a bunk, you could add a dresser or a cute beanbag/cute cushions underneath the bunk or even a desk for workspace. i feel like sconces next to the bed (if you loft it especially) would be really cute and for added coziness/ambiance, you could add mini curtains around the bunk. (sort of like this www.ikea.com/ms/en_CA/rooms_ideas/small_spaces/small_living_play_bed_room.html ) anyways, hope that helps!

You should buy like marble lining or some kind of like marble paper to put on top of the giant white cabinet. It will help it match the rest of your decor and not stick out so much. I'd suggest just lining the top. :)

i have an apartment that is 490 sq feet and my bathroom is bigger than that. I have a TUB. I don't think I'd be able to get in and out with a wheel chair in my place. I KNOW that I'd not be able to get into my bathroom or bedroom with a wheelchair. (No. I'm not in one now. I just think "What if" I needed one?). My living room is the only room where one would fit a wheelchair.....and my bedroom is the biggest room at 12 feet by 9. Living room is only 7 feet by 8 or 9 feet. My kitchen is sadly 5 feet by 3 feet. And I have a small back room for storage and my washer/ dryer is - outside and it gets wet in rain. I watched your video to see what a 550 sq feet apartment would look like since 490 sq feet is kinda small. But I don't need much more than 550 sq feet. I need a tub tho! I know what 950 sq feet looks like..that's way too big for just me and my dog. I like the living room. I didn't see bedroom.

sten260 I also think that this is smaller than 550sqft. I live in 344 and my bedroom is same size, but I have bigger kitchen, dinning area, bigger living room and also bigger bathroom and I also have long hallway. Their apartment looks great, I really like it but do find it to be small for 550sqft (I've seen 2 bedroom apartments that are 550).

You can visually expand the bathroom by hanging a large mirror on that wall. Same thing in the kitchen - long mirror. You can insert a shelf in the kitchen to hold your small appliances. HANG that mirror in the corner on the wall and add another one next to it (same size) Put another mirror behind the standing lamp to bounce light around. Forget the extra marble shelf, get a tall bookcase for that corner. Turn the low cabinet into a BAR and add shelving up to the ceiling - floating shelves. Move that bed so that it aligns with the window and install two little shelves as nightstands. Get a mirror in there before any artwork. You can do a LOT with that space.

Just put down a deposit for a 550sft apartment out here in PA! Leaving our old home for something more affordable. This helps alot for design!

I hate to break your heart, but that is NOT 550 sq ft. My apartment is 518 sq ft and it's TWICE the size of yours. Seriously, you got screwed if you thought you were getting that much space. Measure it and see.

This is a pre-war building in New York City. These are really small buildings but they're very expensive. They're obviously paying for location. This location is most likely near their jobs, and really good nightlife, and great restaurants. most likely they're not going to stay there for the rest of their lives.

I would have made the living room the bedroom & used the bedroom for an office or something...

Sometimes you gotta be real, it's a little extra, but I'm extra, and I'm like, kinda obsessed with being real...

I really need to start playing the lottery.

A hallway is very rare in NY??? LOL, what? Every apt I’ve had has had a hallway. 37 years and many apts, and it’s not rare at all.
