As others have noted in the comments, the locations you were looking in are considered to be fairly posh, particularly Marylebone, St John's Wood & West Hampstead with the average house price above a million pounds. Accordingly, rent will also be higher. You need to be more flexible on your criterias. Not sure why carpets are a deal breaker for you compared to wooden flooring ? I think you got a good deal at £2.1k , could see it at 10% higher and should have no problem given its close proximity to the tube, newly refurbished and fairly spacious for a 1 bed.
I hope you found your dream flat Kat! You actually managed to find reasonably priced places given the areas you picked ❤
2.3k for one bed without bills. That’s just pure insanity.

But London is pure insanity when it comes to property Supply and Demand My relative lives in a one bedroom flat in Notting Hill W11 and it was valued at £600,000 Nothing special It’s not going to get any cheaper soon to rent or buy 🫤🫤🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴👍

That’s cheap compared to NYC. Avg 1 bed here is 4k USD
Omg my boyfriend and I are also Australian and we’re moving to London in a few months with the exact same budget! This was so helpful ❤

Omg amazing! We’re so glad the video was helpful to you 😊 All the best with the move over and the apartment hunt 💕
Wow you guys viewed soo many places!! I'm shocked to hear that it's 6 months rent payment up front 😮

It was painful but at least we don’t have to worry about paying rent until 2024 😂🥲
First and foremost congratulations to Sean for getting into London business school. Also congratulations on the new flat, (or at least finding one) I was surprised about paying 6 months in advance, I guess you wouldn't worry about rent for quite a while...😅

Sean here :) thank you very much! And yes, it’s some peace of mind for now 😂
I signed a contract for six months but did not pay that much up front-first and last month up front with a security deposit. You chose some pricey areas. NE London is more budget friendly. Enjoy London!
Muswell Hill and Crouch End are nice in North London. Quick tube to Finsbury Park, plenty of buses. Don’t forget to investigate overground stations not just tube ones.

That’s a really good point! Being new to London, we just wanted to keep the commute to LBS under 30 minutes haha
The 10th flat had so much potential, the size of the bedroom even let me down lol
Good luck with the studies!
hope you enjoy your time in london; it is a beautiful city, but so is perth; enjoyx
You picked seven of the most expensive places north of oxford street. You ought to move a bit further out. No lift, you have young legs you should be able to run up the stairs.

Thank you, but we are happy where we are :) Being completely new to London (and the UK) we wanted to be close to LBS as we mentioned in the video. We may consider moving further out after our lease ends but we’ll see. As for the lift, we had such heavy luggage - we struggled up the stairs when we first came 😮💨 The lift also makes it much easier for all the furniture deliveries and bulky items too
Did you end up taking any of these places?
I like this channel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Congrats on the LBS offer and congrats to you both. I hope the move wasn't too stressful! I know this is really annoying to say, because you've already moved, but I reckon if you looked a little further east/northeast from where you were looking (like around Highbury and Islington - maybe even Dalston, if it's your vibe), you absolutely would have gotten better bang for your buck, but I understand your decision! It's obviously a little further out for you guys. Transport links can be a bit confusing at first, but I guess being closer to your Fiance's school was more of a priority. Regardless I'm looking forward to seeing how you guys settle in. Welcome to London! :)
I'd recommend moving to Melbourne instead of London lol. Moved here recently and its a phenomenally dirty city😢 😢
St jonhs wood is a nice location , i worked nearby for several years, but expensive place to live , I couldn’t afford to live there

Question! How do agencies accept a couple when you are students, does that mean you work? Do you have a job secured already in Ldn or how does that work with visa etc? Perhaps you have a lot of savings?

Hi! In that situation, I believe you may be asked for a year’s rent upfront but you should research a bit more as I’m not 100% sure. When we arrived in a London I did not have a job secured yet. We recommend saving up as much as you can 😂😬
You are so beautiful. Breath of fresh air ❤
