Marty missed the start a little bit but was one of the best at staying in the stirrup and helping his horse. His horses will last longer, work better and he may not tie all of the fastest calves but will win a lot.

calf roping is great, and barrel racing too. good rodeo memories at Cloverdale, B.C. tots ridin sheep in the pouring rain and the mud, we laughed till we cried

I'm sure those abused animals "laughed until they cried," too. THIS IS ANIMAL ABUSE, FOLKS! For the record, Cloverdale banned calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and "wild cow milking" for their annual rodeo years ago. The rest of the country should follow suit. EVERY animal welfare organization in North America condemns rodeo due to its inherent cruelty. For most of these abuse creatures, the rodeo arena is merely a detour en route to the slaughterhouse.

Hey my name is Preston and I live in central Louisiana. And I want to start calf roping I am new to roping and I am looking for some advice on what would be the best rope for a beginner. And I want something that is not effected too much by the humidity. Thanks

Yes, any poly rope but you will have to make the decision on which ones you like because I personally like king ropes but I say just try King, Willard, and maybe Dub Grant. Hope this helps.

Don't do it, Preston! The calves are terrified BABIES. Some vets claim that the calves are injured EVERY time they are roped and thrown, though the injuries may not be apparent to the untrained eye. Here's a statement from the PRCA's Keith Martin (2/6/00 San Antonio Express News): "Do I think it hurts the calf? Sure I do. I'm not stupid."

Anyone who thinks this blatant cruelty is acceptable is in need of some serious psychiatric help. A bunch of insensitive bullies abusing terrified calves, mere babies yet. Some veterinarians claim that a calf is injured EVERY time she/he is roped and thrown, though the injuries may not be visible to the untrained eye. Just imagine if pet dogs were mistreated thusly...What's the difference, pray? One can only imagine the abuse during the many unmonitored practice sessions, using the same animals over and over. Legislation and lawsuits are in order. The United Kingdom outlawed rodeos back in 1934. Can the U.S. be far behind?
