Aonach Eagach, Glencoe

This Aonach Eagach ridge walk in Glencoe takes in the two munros of Meall Dearg and Sgorr nam Fiannaidh. Conditions were ideal and allowed a relaxing scramble along the ridge travelling east to west.
It doesn't get much better than this....

I've done this ridge 3 times myself, including twice on the chancellor, once in the rain, and once with a descent of the clachaig gully 'path' at the end. But I was probably just as scared watching the guy at 8:01 as I was during any part of my 3 traverses. Slow and steady wins the race sometimes - take care 👍

One of the best Videos yet Charlie-fantastic footage of a Classic Route. Just for the benefit of other readers I had to effect an Emergency Descent from the Ridge just after The Chancellor Section a few years ago after turning an Ankle. Just to emphasise what all the Guidance says - do not try a Descent from the Ridge, once committed, until your reach The Terminus - it really is NOT recommended. I made it by the skin of my Teeth. The only consolation was the Lagavulin Whiskey in The Clachaig Inn and the fact that when I did get down it was dark and the Aurora was on display. I'll never forget it. This is the best Video I have ever seen of this Route - Stunning. Thanks again Charlie.....See you on the Next One !

A fine video Charlie, it's difficult to video and climb this mountain to do it justice! It's a fine challenge with some exposed sections not for the novice! I climbed it in the opposite direction maybe your route was better! The walk back to the clachaig was tiresome but worth it! Cheers mark.

Hi Mark, I find the east/west route is generally better as the sun is at your back for the photos. On one occasion we retraced our steps back along the ridge to the car which was probably a lot less scary than the Glencoe road walk lol. Take care, Charlie.

Hi Peter, Yes, it was 26 degrees with no wind. As you can imagine we were looking for water by the time we hit the road. I've not been on The Chancellor while doing the ridge but the access looks ok from the top. Cheers, Charlie.

Hi L, I use a GoPro Hero 9 shooting in 4k at 30fps. I find it's ideal for putting up with the conditions we get throughout the year. Cheers, Charlie.

I wish people would say this properly. It's pronounced more like Oonach, not Anach. Great video though 👍

Mark, Never been great with the pronunciations that why as lowland Scot I tend to stay away from them :). Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
