3:15 "Aaaand here's the zombie..." I just love how the tone in his voice kind of said "Yeah, gray is screwed..."

I kinda wish this game mode didn't focus so much on the ridiculous stats. I also wish that the zombies and towers were not so ridiculous, it would have been cool if the defenders actually could beat the zombies with units if used cleverly. I was honestly hoping for a game where the human players started in the castle age but with no techs researched while the zombies had a more horde style of game-play relying on statistically weaker but much more cost effective units with some big-bads sprinkled in. the general game-play loop will be pretty similar but micro and unit counters would be more important making the game more about strategy than just upgrading and hoping for the best.

That's a diffrent game mode entirely, this is based on the old troll vs elves maps of Wc3. They are about hiding and building up strong defenses and not about horde survival. In those games everything scaled to be stronger towards lategame.

There was a Zombie Apocalypse scenario we used to play at the New Player Lobby which did mass regular minions. Every unit that died got infected and became a zombie after a minute

Yea. It takes a while for the Player to be able to fight the main Zombie.

these zombie players had so much idle time. Could have easily won if they moved out

Watching this made me buy the game on steam! Got me so hyped, not this mode exactly but the idea of going online against other players caught my attention, i've been watching your videos for a while now and now it's time to put all that knowledge in use!

People trapped inside walls, lots of farmers ignoring the outside danger, a few people fighting for freedom against weird running enemies... This isn't a zombie attack, it's Shingeki no Kyojin in AEO2!

I always found it better to include towers *within* the wall sections. So if the zombies ignore the towers and instead focus on breaking only the walls to get to the other side, they will continue taking damage from the towers. The attrition quickly wears them out.

True. If you have a huge mass of walls like Green had. A few towers here and there could make it really annoying. Until they just run past it ofc.

I absolutely love your live commentary over game play, commentary after the fact is still great, but when it's live it adds a little more excitement to it.

This is a really cool scenario. I'd love to watch more of this.

this reminds me a bit of a minigame i used to play sc2, where you had a probe and had to survive as long as possible against ever increasing waves of ai mobs . had a fun time playing that.

Zombie HP and armour goes up a LOT and you can't upgrade onager attack at the market, so they work early game but in the late game they do less than 10 damage per shot against units with 30,000+ HP

Main zombie is the black death inoculated person that became a vector for the disease (like mosquitoes) and the villagers are the survivors trying to wall themselves from the sick.

Just discovered your channel, can't stop watching, while AoE2 isn't even the one I play the most and I almost never multi. Quality content, I guess :p Aliens will subscribe gladly.

I thought this was going to be a video on what happens when you play too much AoE2, to complement the video on it being good for you.

I love those kind of weird scenarios. I played a lot of those in Warcraft 3. Is there a Discord channel or something where I can find people to play matches like this?

I didn't know AOE2 had custom scenarios like that! Warcraft 3's Farmer vs Hunter vibes... Love it.

This map really reminds me of a map type from Warcraft 3 called "Vampirism". Same concept executed differently, really. As a person who really loved playing warcraft 3 custom maps I am very happy to see that people are also making "out there" map concepts in AoE2. Not a game I've played a lot so I might be very behind on this, but after binging some videos on this channel I'm thinking about trying my hand at it.

Escape in Age of mythology is similar and really awesome. 2 hunters, 4 runners

The reason why this is underplayed is probably because dinosaur hunter is more refine than this one. They both have the same concept but dinosaur is more fair and refine for both team.

They could just give the bonus at the 10 minutes before the 2 hour mark instead of being "NOPE! It wasn't 2 hours after all! Fooled you!" Like, why bother saying the time limit is 2 hours if it's really 2:10? It's completely arbitrary.

Was thinking exactly the same. And the fact that the zombies got huge buffs for that period aswell, such as spies is ridicilous. A zombie player should easily win this within 2 hours every time. So basically, you can be absolutely useless for the first 2 hours and then just kill everything within the 10 minutes extension, wasting 2 hours from everybody

I remember playing this either on original AoE2 or on Age of Mythology, probably on AoM as I played a ton of that as I kinda stopped playing AoE2 after I got that and then AoE3 came out and played a bit of that but generally played AoM so I think it was that.

I think playing with Spirit of the Law on scenario map would be very fun

My brother and I would love this mode. He and I love defensive battles. He makes great defensive walls, Towers, Thick walls, siege onagers and I really capitalise on choke points and defensive unit maneuvers

I'd like to request a series on the different map types their particular quirks. there are so many, and so many of them are weird and quirky that i end up sticking to my small pool of 5 different locations. your civ videos really helped me explore different civs and units that i didn't before, i was hoping a location series could do the same. besides, you could easily fit like 5 different map types per video, so it shouldn't be a long series.
