I don't like to associate myself with Kpop personally, primarily because I'm not particularly fond of the community surrounding it, but DAMN THAT CHORD PROGRESSION IS SWINGING♡!! As a music enthusiast, I'm a sucker for melodies that envoke both a unique vibe and a certain kind of melody I like to call "Jazz" "Jazz" is difficult to describe, but it's essentially the Autonomous Sensory Meridian Responce equivalent for music to me. It's when a song switches to either a note, a chord, a beat/rhythm, or an unexpected direction that is both entirely different from the rest of the melody yet also parallel enough to it that it works beautifully. It can serve as both tension in the song by the common standards of music theory that I know of or even a sort of surprise that you are both cautious of yet still mentally unprepared for simultaneously. This song manages to do that in it's melody via the use of major and minor from what I've experienced when listening. You start off with a minor key as an introduction, one that you probably wouldn't notice when listening to unless you were watching out for it, which then transitions into some rather peaceful, and frankly relaxing to a certain degree, major chords, or I suspect them to be at least, for the third and fourth parts of the melody, which initially builds an impression that the rest of the melody is going to be like that, only to be interrupted with a both out of place, yet complimentary, secondary minor key at the end of the melody before repeating, surprising the listener with it's unexpected arrival and simultaneously with how well it manages to work despite of it's seemingly out-of-place nature captivates the listener. The certain keys involved with the chord progression alongside instrumentation also gives off a very sorta Deva-beauty queen kinda aesthetic, a rather difficult one to stumble upon in my personal ventures. Aight, I'm done ranting. I'm not a Stan or what not, just an enthusiast of a good melody.

I actually feel the same. I had expected this to be a song about empowerment, an f-u to people who think women must have long hair to be considered beautiful, but I'm kinda disappointed that it's legit just a song about cutting your hair short to get a guy LOL

Asian culture has this saying that when a woman cuts her long hair to short hair, she’s throwing away and forgetting the bad things that happened in her past to start fresh and anew. Acting as if she has become reborn as new more confident woman. Girls in Asia usually do this trend for big changes in their life be it: a new job, graduating college or high school, starting a new relationship, etc.
