Because she’s grounded and she’s veryyy intellectual -no matter how someone looks you shouldn’t let it consume you because once you understand that looks are temporary and don’t mean for much it’s kind of a break-free. Your looks are not a choice and she knows it and chooses to not let it inflate her ego.

However, there was an abuse scene with her uncle taken at the same time she was kidnapped with the other girls. She was still living with her abusive uncle on the day of the kidnapping. He abused her since childhood. This is why at the end of the movie the kidnapper lets her go noticing she is an sbuse victim and why she gets the courage to seek help for the abuse when she refuses to get out of the cop car knowing her uncle is at the house. Remember that? Watch it again...

Anya had the best reaction to being friend zoned. That’s all of us and She’s a mood. She was so calm about it too

That's not a "true" representation of an entire continent with millions, with people that speak portuguese, spanish, creole, english, french, that have african blood but also european, asian, "native", Mediterranean, arabic, etc etc.

The book Emma by Jane Austin was one of the greatest books I've ever read and I can't wait since I've heard a movie adaptation of it will be on theatres. Anya May Taylor is such a capable actress and I'm sure she will make a splendid Emma. Can't wait to see it!
