Matt Fradd This was a FANTASTIC show! I am very discerning with what I have on, to try to protect my inner silence and peace. But I felt the Lord really wanted me to listen to this one, and so glad I did. Most of the nudges of approval from the Lord giving me the okay to turn on a podcast, etc is usually yours, ☺️. But this is something I’ve been praying that someone in the Church would expose more Catholics to. Thank you so very much!! I can go on and on about this type of therapy and awareness that’s helped me stay out of mortal sin. I work at and watch my brain function, emotions running through my body, and of course my spiritual life (mind, body, soul) to conquer SA and other characteristics that go with SA (sexual addiction, for those that don’t know what that is). I did a video on my personal little no big deal (lol) KZread (“Jesus’ 2019 Resurrected Power”) about some steps I took that helped me through some trauma at that time. But this video was just released from Shalom World where I share my testimony about SA and how one way I overcome it was working on the neurotransmitters. Addicts love that dopamine without knowing that’s what is firing in them. And why they’re never satisfied (the chase becomes more intense) is because dopamine (the reward / pleasure chemical) fires off in the chase, it builds up, overflows the brain with it in the chasing the choice of drug. It doesn’t fire off during. Addicts have the mentalities “go big or go home”. So, they have to work on small goals to make the brain chemicals produce slower dopamine levels, instead of the needed overwhelming amounts it’s used to to feel normal. Ahh, I can on on...I’m not an educator (professional). I barely passed my GED! But i was someone that was desperate for freedom. This combined with the TLM (structure + order) has helped me so much!! If interested, this is my recent testimony about some of this from Shalom. Thank you, again! Incredible! 😍 kzread.info/dash/bejne/iHaevKOeqKfIfJs.html

Matt Fradd And thanks for your courage! You’re right that many Catholics might be turned Off at this and will express concern assuming it’s “New Age” or whacky psychology. I’ve run into that. But if we think it’s okay to work on our bodies or go see a doctor for sports injuries (me right now), or GI issues or even cancer, etc why isn’t it okay to help work on and fix the brain structure? Trauma (especially in early childhood development) impacts the brain, rewires it. When that happens most of those kids (like myself) can go through life without being aware of consequences, etc. Trauma isn’t talked about enough in the Church. That’s why so many people get tired of “trying to pray harder” etc. God made our brains and bodies. Just how we trust other doctors with our bodies, that doesn’t say we don’t trust God. It’s no different. Everything has to be partnered with God of course. I also am into fitness for this same reason. People don’t question my lack of trust with God when I share that about fitness. So, thank you for being courageous!

The best book I've read on trauma is 'the body keeps the score' besel van der kolk. Explains that trauma actually physiologically changes our brain and CNS. Uses experiments to support his claims. Very interesting read!

My counseling experience decades ago, with a CatholicSister. 4 sessions dealing with me spilling everything. I was disturbed at not getting any advice or guidance. When challenged she gave me a prescription. Go home compliment your wife more, be thankful, and Be a better parent. Was my last visit. I took the RX and I got better with my depression for quite awhile.

Of the myriad brilliant, insightful, thoughtful and informative conversations you have broadcast, this is without a doubt the most helpful, restorative, informative, and deeply Christ centered, redemptive one I have encountered. God bless you, Mr Fradd, for finding the most inspiring guests and sharing your conversations with them with us.

1:46 is so true. Some of the wisest info I've ever heard. More people need to hear it. Especially parents I think that don't realize the damage they might do to their kids by forcing them to do something they don't want to do. Helped answer a lot of questions about myself. Makes sense why some people will constantly do stuff like ride rollercoasters or watch horror films also whenever that stuff scared them at first.

anxiety and relaxation. Here in PA, we used to have "blue laws", which meant anything non essential, stores, etc. were closed on Sundays. Because Sunday was supposed to be a day of worship, relaxation and family time. (as God ordained). It still is where the Amish and the Mennonites live. Their stores are closed or they do not work on Sundays.

As a bereavement counsellor and addiction clinician, I question the wisdom of focusing on the 'self'. It's is striking that, in the contemporary world, the word 'self' is now at the fore; self respect, self esteem, self control, self awareness. Ne timeas.

Very good! Just one thing, when talking about spiritual self, and you're a man, why do you say "Good spiritual "boy" prays the rosary and other prayers for a solution. You use the "healthy boy' also. I think men in this day are too 'boyish' as it is, so it would be more helpful to say "man" in my opinion. We all have parts, but if we're men or women I think using 'man' or 'woman' would be better. But you do bring up about the fact that there is the 'wounded child' as you say, so maybe it is better to use boy or girl. I guess it depends on the actual problem one's dealing presently. You've a very soothing voice and are no doubt a very good therapist.
