Good to see you working that blade Mark. Always love hearing your thoughts on gear.

I also enjoy your perspectives as well Jon. I think where we differ (which is a good thing) may be due, in part to our location and application. I expect your use for your knives may be a bit different if you were home in Maine. Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft I would agree on that. Most of the forest I go it is at about 5,500 ft elevation. It can have unique challenges for sure.
Thank you for this knife review. I believe the example of a kukri that I have would work as well for most tasks so I agree with you about this knife. That said I find the shape of this knife interesting and I like it’s sheath; both seem to be of good quality.

So many people love their kukris. I need to use a more true kukri for a while to really understand . This is a really well made knife for sure. Thanks for commenting
Different Looking Blade, Thanks For Your Thoughts & Review On This, Mark ! ATB T God Bless

It is different than anything else I have reviewed for sure. Thanks for commenting Terry
G'day Mark, a few dual grind jobs out there. On the face of it, it makes perfect sense, but to be honest I'd find it more of a nuisance. Even the far less obvious change up on the Skrama I could do without. But hey, very interesting all the same and thanks for the look and demo. Cheers Duke.

Fair enough! I prefer to have two different tools. One for chopping and one for carving. Still, this is a fun knife to play with. Thanks for commenting Duke
It sounds like the chipmunks came to observe you while you were chopping the maple. 😁 Interesting design - more attractive than utilitarian, but a knife collector should probably have one. It would be a shame to damage it and spoil its attractiveness. Thanks again, Mark.👍

Most welcome. BTW, I did look up MSR and like JetBoil, found they are made in USA. Adds to the cost I am sure. Thanks for commenting
Good morning Mark. Gotta say, your Saturday videos have become a welcome part of my Saturday rituals. As for the knife, I’m sure it would suit some people, but for me it’s like yes it can do these things, but so can a regular knife, and yet this is too cumbersome to work as a regular knife. And I agree that chopping with a knife is kinda silly, or at least taking a knife with the intention of chopping is. Unless it’s like that big ole Finish one. Which this isn’t. Hey, is there any St Patrick’s day celebrations out your way? In Montreal we have the longest running one. Only stopped during Covid, but never even stopped during the wars. Weather permitting I’m taking the family this year.

I think part of the reason for not chopping with a knife, beyond the energy in compared with a saw, is that my old shoulders complain too much. Still, it can be fun if not practical. Yes, lots of St Paddy's Day activities here. The city turn green and everyone is Irish for a few days. We have a small parade but mostly it starts with a lot of drinking in the morning. Thanks for commenting Jim
Thanks Mark for the review. I like it better than the Tom Brown Tracker. That ever so slight recurve I'm sure helps with feather sticks.

I do like this knife, despite my criticisms. Mostly because it is quite light for its length. Thanks for commenting
yes a streamlined tracker Boker Plus have done something similar 1095 steel brown Micarta handle scales black rust resistant coating 18.3 cm blade there is also a mini version which makes a good neck knife both with Kydex sheaths

I like the looks of the tracker style knife, and I like that you can make great curls with the quarter round. Shame they didn’t make the quarter round right. I have thought about getting one, but I don’t want to sharpen the blade with that edge shape. I like how they made it a kukri style. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

It really is an interesting combo of styles. It has promise but also a few drawbacks. Thanks for commenting
great video, could you make one on your top knife picks for long term camping? also a knife skills video would be a good one, enjoyed the skills you showed. What brand carving spoon would you recommend?

Wow, I have a good number of knives now and often rotate through them as well as testing new knives. What you ask for is a good idea and I will consider how I can make a video around it. Thanks for commenting
Looks a lot like a William Collins design.

I recall Collins saying he was inspired by Trakkers and Kukris, Thanks for commenting
It's actually inspired by the Robb Russon design that Tom Brown stole.
