Antony Gormley: Breaking Bread | TateShots
Фильм және анимация
We break bread with Antony Gormley in his studio, as the artist talks about his 1980-1 work 'Bed'. The sculpture is made from 600 loaves of Mother's Pride bread, minus those he ate along the way!
Gormley talks about how he was influenced by a generation of American artists from Carl Andre and Richard Serra to Sol LeWitt and Robert Smithson, and how his 'Bed' is "a meditation on the fundamental processes of both art and life."
The 'Bed' is currently on display at Tate Britain as part of the BP Walk through British Art, in room '1970-1980'.

I just love this
estou estudando ele na escola☺amo os trabalhos dele
I love how bread is so boring but he managed to make art out of it. Its weird as hell
He ate the same volume of bread of his own body, doesn't that make you think of a human volume made of bread looking at the void? This does not only show us that the human body's volume is its basic attribute that no one looks at or think of, but also it's industrial bread/toast, a food that's so poor but made up most of us. So the work itself asks:How did that happen?
This is 999% genius...He should have combined it with butter for the 1000%
never thought about bread is body Materia functional as element to value of the shape our functionable is dust , flour and land etc
mano entendi nada
..and Antony, don't forget, beside all the artistic characters, it's also food for poor people. Even more important fact than its "offset relay...attitude"
all about everyday banality i guess. my 1st impression is equally banal: i see a couple turning in for their collective nights, their absence evokes the bread they've eaten
