For anyone wondering: In the first scene he touches the net with his body before the shuttle lands. That´s why he is faulted. If the rule is working as intended is another discussion as Lakshya cleary already conceided the point.

I'm curious why Antonsen thinks that he can touch the net even though the shuttle still hasnt landed on the floor. Are there any rules supporting this? I looked at the rules and what i found was the following. It shall be a ‘fault’: 13.4 if, in play, a player: 13.4.1 touches the net or its supports with racket, person or dress; Furthermore section 15 describe when a shuttle is not in play. A shuttle is not in play when: 15.1 it strikes the net or post and starts to fall towards the surface of the court on the striker’s side of the net; 15.2 it hits the surface of the court; or 15.3 a ‘fault’ or a ‘let’ has occurred. Nowhere does it say that a shuttle is not in play because a player conceided the point during a rally.

@@brage1222 Tennis has some situations where the playability of the ball in a rally at the exact moment when a line call is made changes the umpire's decisions. Shouldn't apply to badminton though and it's a clear foul on Antonsen's part. Rally is alive as long as the shuttle doesn't hit the floor or body. Not a very mature display if i'm tbh.

He’s one of the rare ones, like Kevin Sukamuljo or Lee Zii Jia, who has added some colour to badminton, a sport with such a suppressive community where players are criticized simply of celebrating.

The main problem is not the community. Those players simply don't speak English so there is an extremely thick language barrier that they cannot express themselves other than some shoulder shrugs here and there.

@@rezhaadriantanuharja3389 Language barrier is a legit factor. However, a lot of people in the community, including badminton content creators who play a big role in shaping the crowd’s opinion, are too judgmental. I saw a bunch of posts shaming heavily on players, labelling them “unsportsmanlike”, for showing frustration or throwing their rackets. I mean, disrepecting your equipment shouldn’t be encouraged but they fcking just lost 24-26 in a decider?! They’re athletes, not monks. And “Overcelebrating” is deemed a real thing in this sport. If a player does more than a fist bump, it’s considered “extra”. That’s why Antonsen’s Denmark 2018 QF celebration is played over and over, it’s rare. It’s gonna be very lopsided to compared badminton to football in terms of spirit. Those players literally dance a whole freaking song when they score a goal but Toma Popov is made fun of for “celebrating like it the final” after wining 29-27 in the decider.

@@rezhaadriantanuharja3389 Language barrier is a legit factor, but not quite the main reason. A lot of badminton watchers, including badminton-related content creators who play a big role in shaping the crowd’s opinion, are way too judgmental. I’ve seen players getting criticized heavily, labeling “unsportsmanlike” simply because they couldn’t help but showing frustration or throwing their rackets. I know disrespecting your equipment shouldn’t be encouraged, but fuck it, don’t you see they just lost 22-20 in the decider of a 100min match? They’re athletes, not monks, and emotions are part of sports. And “Overcelebrating” is deemed a thing in this sport. If a player does more than a fist bump, it’s considered “extra”. That’s why Antonsen’s Denmark Open 2018 QF celebration keeps getting played over and over, because it’s super rare. More recent example, in the Indonesia Open this year, Toma Jr Popov was made fun of for “celebrating like he won the final” after literally just winning 29-27 in a decider. And don’t even get me started about those who think that no one other than Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei deserves to be admired.

7:41 - come on. You were about to pick up the shuttle and give it back for a let. 8:11 - fully with him. Extremely annoying 'tactic' by Nishimoto that wasn't stomped out quick enough by umpires. It's obviously intentional and delays the game, should be a warning on the 2nd or 3rd time and a card afterwards. Overall he's just entertaining to watch because he's so different, but without the malice towards his opponents (& arrogance) that guys like KSS had
