That is Anton though.......theres a reason why he never made it big and famous or broke mainstream. Well the way he acted along with stealing the startup money from 2 dif record labels and then refusing to make the albums they wanted lol. He was blacklisted from the record companies and the only reason he finally became successful is because technology changed and social media and that kinda stuff meant that he didn't need a label to distribute records or advertise anymore. Anton was ahead of his time really......back in the early 90's he was saying the record labels were too powerful and if musicians would just come together, they didn't need the labels. He was recording their own albums even back before the pro-tools era. He used to get in fistfights with his band and hecklers etc. He and Matt hollywood have gone at it many times where theyve broke gear, etc. Nowadays when you go to BJM concert, there is almost always someone in the crowd that yells some kind of insult at anton or whatever trying to get him to go off. It's a game, and even Anton knows its a game. I watched him in a show a few weeks ago where a heckler was yelling "you suck anton" and other things between songs. At first, while he'd be adjusting an amp or something and they'd yell it, I'd look at him and see him grinning then just continue what he was doing. But eventually, old anton came out and after an insult he went up to the mic and did his thing and insulted him back and threatened to kick his teeth in, etc. LOL so it's a game. Some people go to see them only for the anton meltdowns. Especially since this tour he has a couple new people touring with him, so the rhythm section will often make mistakes or go out of time, and he will let them know about it. Theres also a reason there have been over 40 different people in the band since the 90's. Basically you have anton, joel, and rest of band are his backup musicians anymore.

True. Anyway, he definitely mellowed out with age hahahah. Hell, 10/20 years ago this was the norm. He even kicked some dude in the head once, there was a clip of it on YT.

He played a faultless set at the O2 in Kentish Town Feb '23, no shenanigans, two hours solid of just playing his fantastic music. I offered to buy him a drink in the pub before the gig and he blanked me which was fair enough. (I was a bit inebriated. Never meet your heroes etc). On stage he was tremendous. Just waiting for the next UK gig now.

I met him in Glasgow 2 days before this and he was the same to the crowd but when I met him outside he was so nice to me

yeah I don't trust a guy in a cowboy hat who doesn't own a horse. I love to loathe this band, that guy--the worst poseurs in rock... by far.

In Chicago on 9/29/23 he was in a great mood. The show was smooth and awesome.

He was a tool in Liverpool too,very opinionated and a little angry too. He spent most of the show changing guitars and then tuning them up,Played just one of their classics which was Anemone .Played a short set and left the without returning for a n encore.

I much prefer him the way he is. He's a character. I'm paying for to be entertained so I don't exactly want him to be a great guy who is nice. I much prefer it he be a cunt. I'm not there to be pals with him or anything.

I've been to several. I know what Anton can be like but at this show, his behaviour was just completely uncalled for.

Saw them in Kentish Town, London years ago and he was mad at a band member and ended up glassing him in the face! 🤦🏼‍♀️

@@al-lt5jv I can’t remember but it wasn’t very nice to watch him argue on stage. Hilariously, just saw them again last night in Brisbane Australia and nothing has changed. He’s the same cantankerous a*shore as he was back then! Even kicked to people out in the audience because they laughed and tried to close the bar down after the show and was super rude to a guy ordering a drink next to him. The nerve of him. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Anton is Anton, if you know him then you know what to expect at a gig. Fantastic music but with flaws. Well worth seeing though!

Saw them in Atlanta at the Variety Playhouse in early November. They were super drunk and hitting the vape and swiggin vodka. Anton threw an apple at the drummer. They tuned for like 5 minutes between every song. Worst "show" I have ever seen.

I understand it's super hard to keep a 12-string in tune, let alone a one from the 60s. But yeah, I saw them in 2018 when Anton was still sober and the vibes were much better.

Did the same in Nottingham. He is getting predictable and boring now
