I like the movie but that this the problem I have with chigurh. He is supernatural. It's like watching Jason or Michael Myers stalk prey. The prey runs chigurh walks and is still right behind them waiting for their mistake. The ending is justified that chigurh took the hit and has to retreat, so it's just a nit pick to me. But I couldn't feel any suspense in this scene because I've seen it all before in horror. The good guy is panicky and suspense is trying to be created but what does it matter when the villain has the key to all the secret doors to show up anywhere at anytime. And then when you see the villain, they're just walking....WALKING!

Big mistake by Lewelin to not blast Anton through those doors. It was even worse in novel, because he managed to sneak up on Anton, disarm him and hold him helpless for a while, before fleeing hotel. This scene was FAR better in movie! So suspensful.

I would sorta like to to see an alternate cut of the movie where lewleyn narrowly survives the shootout with the cartel with the help of the sheriff and the two then have a showdown with Chigurh where he kills the or at least injures the sheriff and moss kills Chigurh. This would be super interesting since it would essentially play out like a traditional western instead of a neo western. Also they could possibly have Chigurh and that other bounty gun have a fight too instead of Chigurh just killing him.

I just realized something. After the shot at 2:48, Chigurh pauses shooting for a moment; in context, he was shooting at a constant pace. His pause gives Llewellyn the confidence to adjust his mirror, but is immediately blasted after he tries to do so. Was it him just rushing to reload a single shot, or did Chigurh just pretend to run out of ammo so he could get a shot off? Interesting thing to notice, idk.

I like to think Chigurgh COULD have killed Moss at the beginning if he wanted to. See how easily Moss couldve died when jumping out the window. However, he let his sick tendency to toy with his victims get out of hand here. As he probably never faced an opponent that would fight back so effectively. And one that made him retreat from his duty as death, no less. A part of Chigurgh died that day. It explains his spiteful visit to Carla Jean later in the movie. Even after he got the money and learned Moss died it wasnt enough, he felt humiliated.

Anton wasn't playing with him. Anton was stunned when the shotgun blast came through the door. He might . . . we don't know . . . have been slightly wounded by a pellet or two. Nothing serious at that point. He wasn't about to rush in initially. When he heard the window break he figured out what was going on, but even that could have been a trap for him. What if Llewelynn had thrown something heavy through the window to simulate him leaving the room, but hid behind the bed with his shotgun at the ready when Anton rushed in. No, Anton was too smart to just rush in immediately. And the delay cost him the time to get a perfect shot on Llewelynn. Though he did wound him severely.

That's precious milliseconds of time that u need against a maniac like Anton who's been in this situation thousands of times in his lucid dreams. But on the flip side if moss would have been facing the car he would have no idea where Anton was coming from or whether he was in range or not because without the use of the glass he wud have to peek to find out. Unpopular opinion here but Moss has better fighting instincts. He's also able to keep his head while under intense pressure. Both of these are rare traits. Chiguhr is a ruthless killer but he's also methodical which is great except when you face someone who's good at improvisation. Then it can get you killed which it almost did. Chiguhr got a decent shot on Moss but Moss had him dead to rights, he shouls be dead except for plot armor.

Moss almost certainly doesnt survive another encounter. He is tough as hell and lucky. Compared to your average man Moss is a much better fighter and very resourceful but he has weaknesses namely his wife and not being a ruthless killer. In the novel he showers Chigurh with 2 rounds of buckshot at a distance then gets shot 3 millimeters from his liver. Had 3 cartel men not been there to be murdered by Chigurh its doubtful, but possible, Moss gets away. Moss doesnt hunt down and kill Chigurh. That never happens. Moss knows this so he calls Wells to cut the deal. He knows Chigurh will always be out there as well as others and they wont believe it when people say we dont know where he is. People will always be getting hurt and then killed and there will always be someone out there that he may have to kill and his wife will always be in danger so Well's is a real good deal let him keep some money and go home and he will take care of Chigurh. He knows him and seems confident he can coupled with the fact someone else is confident enough to hire Wells to do it. Well or Bell is his only shot and Bell cant help that much but he might be able to get someone else to. Not to mention the myriad law agencies hunting for him who arent convinces he just stumbled on the money. Any man he kills puts him in the crosshairs of the law and opens him to going to prison. The grave or the pen is where it ends and he has finally seen that until he has no real choice after Well's is killed because he feels it's too late to turn back. Like Wells said he'll kill you for the inconvenience and I doubt the cartel would be willing to give him a pass.

@@irisdaniels2318 yes I know I was just spitballing Moss state of mind and what wouldve happened had Moss not been gunned down by the cartel men. In the book he picks up a young girl about 15 just to help her out and gets her a room and gives her about a grand cause he tells her she don't look like a bunch of good luck running around so he basically thought he would help her out and it was somebody else to drive while he slept. Well that sealed his fate and hers when one of the cartel men grabbed her and got Moss to put his machine gun on the pavement then he killed her of course and riddled Moss with lead. That was the guy crawling along the ground all shot up himself cause Moss climbed back up some steps he just got shot down and got his gun back off the ground and took dude out with him at least considering Moss had his teeth shot out and about a handful of other bullet holes in him. And the drunk chick hitting on Moss took the girls place for the movie I guess the Coens were leaving it to the audience to put two and two together that Moss got caught out drinking with the red head and that's how they got him fairly easily considering he had been on his guard up till then.

The scenes where both men stare into the tv the same way, and the camera lingers on that shot. Seems like they are hinting at the secret of the movie. Or even when Chigurh basically disappears from the Hotel room. It’s almost as if Bell was just imagining him being there. This is definitely out there, but it’s interesting.
