In this video I restored an old Torque Wrench and also gave it some modifications.
Age: - I guess it´s age to 50-60 years
Restoring time: - around 3 weeks
Facts: This Torque Wrench was working even before the restoration, because the condition didnt effect the function. I replaced the welding between base plate and main shaft with screws, because I didnt want to weld the stainless steel.
Techniques/materials: I used several techniques here: nickle plating, cold bluing, sand blasting and laser engraving.
I hope you have fun with the video! If you have any questions on the used tools, materials or the processes, write it in the comment section - i´ll try to answer as soon as possible!

Why didn’t make a calibration? Changing thickness and crystal lattice of metal after tempering… Is it a ruining of an instrument?(((
It would be interesting to compare the readings in the original and after restoration when switching to fastening from welding to screws.

Given the reduction in thickness, I'd expect an increase in indicated torque for a given actual torque due to the reduction in resistance to bending. Also, I'd expect the heating to have an effect as well.
You really should get it calibrated. I repaired these for years and you disassembling it changed a lot of specs. Don’t trust it until then. But it looks nice as a paperweight until then.

I calibrated it for him about a month ago.
Great restoration, as always. Don't want to be that guy, but would like to see a calibration to see how much of an effect removing that material had on the accuracy of the piece. Looks lovely though, my dad had one similar.
I have never heard of such a thing, but I enjoy watching and learning

This is such a great video. Lovely repair & restoration, great storytelling, and awesome videography. Well done, Mr. P.

Thanks again Vickie! 🙂
Smoothing the edges like a mad lad.
Well, but I was waitnting to see it working in the final of the video
I learned something new. The kilopondmeter is the same thing as a Newton-meter.
My dad had one of these when I was a kid, and it's mine now. They're a terrible pain to use, the click type are much easier to deal with. But I hang on to mine for sentimental reasons. I wish it looked as nice as yours!
It would be great to see this wrench compared to a modern torque wrench.. great video, loved it 🎉
I relate to wanting a "connection that is screwable" 😁
Wow, I must be old. I have one of those "antiques" in my toolbox. But yours is prettier than mine. Great job!!

Always enjoy your videos. For some reason, this one was the most satisfying that I have watched so far. 😺😺 Keep the great restorations coming.

Would like to see a calibration test to see if it is still within specks.
Fantastic job, Mr Patina (again).

Amazing job bro
Mutig! Grüner Loctite. Das bekommst du nie wieder auseinander. Schlimmer ist nur noch die rote Schraubensicherung. Ich hätte wohl die Blaue genommen. Reicht in fast allen Fällen völlig aus. Hier mit Sicherheit ebenfalls. Ansonsten: Erstklassige Arbeit. Es ist immer eine wahre Freude, dir und deinem Hang zur Perfektion zuzusehen.
That laser is slick! pew! pew!
Мистер Патина, прекрасная работа👍👍👍💯💯💯🔥
Great restoration as always 😃😃

Perfect Any video is perfect!👍
I learned something by watching! kpm means "kilopondmetre" and is from a defunct metric-derived system that took "standard" gravity into account, so 1 kpm is about 9.806 Nm.
Il consueto lavoro magistrale. 👋👋
Greate! I like your attention to detail
Very talented. I've always wondered how accurate those type of torque wrenches are
Love your videos they are awesome my cat tinkerbell enjoys watching with me he had some cuddles while watching lol

Looks great as all your restorations. Drilling the stainless steel may go better with a Cobalt drill. I have worked with stainless steel some and have found either carbide or cobalt works best. It’s the Nickel in the stainless steel that makes cutting difficult.
Cómo usual y costumbre... una delicada y deliciosa restauración. La prueba final me hubiera encantado ver trabajar este torquímetro mecánico VS un digital, y con ello comprobar que está bien calibrado y en operación técnica y mecánica confiable. 😊
Magnificent Mr Patina. Are we going to see some new projects coming soon. ?

bonjour trée belle restoration vous êtes le mayeurs
Otro gran trabajo de restauración, yo tengo un torquimetro igual a ése de marca snap on made in USA de los años 80s pura calidad buen video saludos 👍
Now you have to make a case to put it in to keep it from getting damaged... Thumbs Up!
finally something like manual processing has appeared. More like this, not everyone has lathes or drilling machines.
Top.. thank you..!
Still have one in my tool box
I like your work, so this is me leaving a comment. 😊

Fantastic. I still use one just like it. I have never trusted the newer click type torque wrenches.
*Another great video. 🙂Now it looks so much better, than when it was brand new, back in the day 🙂You should have 1 million subs, as you are a master at your work. 🙂nz*

Looks great at the end. I definitely would have loved to see a comparison at the end between a known accurate torque wrench and this one, just showing "hey the bar moves" doesn't really mean it actually works and shows the correct torque.
