Antique Singer Sewing Machines - Vintage Homestead #27

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Let's explore part of (!) my vintage and antique Singer sewing machine collection, dating all the way back to 1884! I was inspired to make this video after a rare find at my local thrift store -- I even bring you along on my trip to pick it up. We'll also get an indepth look at my "daily driver" treadle machine as seen in other videos, a slightly scary one I found at the dump, and the beloved Singer I learned how to sew on, my grandmother's 1925 portable electric. Includes detailed descriptions of many early models up to 1930, cabinets, decal sets, how to figure out the date of manufacture and locate the serial number, a brief overview of how to use a treadle machine, and other historic facts about Singer domestic sewing machines.
Special thanks to the International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society for their incredibly helpful website! ismacs.net/

I'll have to see if I can get a pic of my mom's old foot pedal singer sewing machine/table. It was given to her by my grandma who got it from her mother who was a seamstress when they got off the boat in New York. I'm not sure if it's still operable. Just the table part itself is gorgeous. Also, what a great view out that window while you're working! That 1899 model is just beautiful.

I'd love to see a picture! If you have access to the machine, grab that serial number (assuming it's a Singer) and check out that database so you can find out the year it was made. Let me know if it runs, and if not, what the trouble might be -- often all they need is some lubrication to get spinning once more.
