Antique Noodle Machine Restoration

In this video, I'm going to restore an antique Noodle Making Machine. It was used in villages about forty to fifty years ago before they had electric noodle machines. There are a few characteristics that make it very obvious that this is a Noodle Machine: The wooden plank was too big. It was operated by two people, placing the large wooden plank on a bed, one man setting on top of it, and the other person working to feed the machine and handle the noodles, hence the large wooden figure.
I found this cleaver actually a long time ago and I was very impressed by its size. Now I thought it was time to restore it. This project was pretty straightforward. After a quick disassembly first I remove the loose rust with a wire brush from all the parts and then to remove the rust, all these parts were immersed in 15% HCL. After two hours with the help of a wire wheel, I removed all the flash rust from all the parts one by one. Using an angle grinder I removed all the pitting of the Machine's parts. I didn't want to remove any more material to remove all the pitting Because Very fine metal was used to make it that would just weaken the body. Once I had it all clean I switched to hand sanding with finer grits, all the way up to 600 wet. The interior of the machine and the mesh were heated bluings coated and painted black on the outer surface. Nickel plated on Paddle reactor, it's also quite hard and nice to work with. The handle was cracked and hollow inside so for the handle I choose pear wood to make it on the wood lathe. To fix the handle on the tang I drilled a half hole. I really like the color combination of it.
Now there was just the repairing the large wooden Plank of the Machine left. The plank was crooked in the middle and it has a lot of cracks and knots. To straighten the board, the crown side was heated with a blue torch for 5 minutes and straightened until cool. then I trimmed down lumbers and shaped them. I did that on my friend's rotary power planer. then I filled all cracks with glue and wood dust and put them in the sun. After an hour when the glue was completely dried removed layers of glue with an angle grinder. Now the plank is ready to polish. for that first I applied three coats of Seedlac and then colored the wooden board.
Overall I'm very happy with how this antique noodle machine turned out. I really like the contrast of the wooden handle. it really has a very classy look together with the purple handle and the black color.

I think I would have put washers under both sides of those bolts to help protect the wood.

You restored it visually very well but i dont think it will ever be food grade again. You could see black particles coming off of it and mixing in the dough. I probably would have gone with a powder coat finish or something that is sealed. But very good job on the restore i know that took alot of work.

That was great, but I think you must not paint the hole, because the paint will be mix with the noodle ingredients

Tip #1: NEVER wear cloth gloves when using a wire wheel! One slip and your glove will get pulled into the wire wheel causing you injury! Tip#2: Stop begging for people to subscribe! If people like what you're doing, they will subscribe. Tip #3: If you want people to read the text, leave it up longer than 2 seconds! 5 seconds would work better.
