Just like arthritis, it can only be managed. I think due to the nature of the human joints

Medicine can’t cure everything yet! Most diseases can only be managed and not cured!

Because medications are short acting and wear off. The uric acid levels in your blood are dependent on the amount of high purine foods you consume. Cut out organ meat (especially beef liver) as well as highly processed meats like cold cuts, pepperoni sticks, hot dogs etc. Made a big difference for me. Meat in general is a huge culprit.. but if you have to eat meat, fresh fish is your best bet. Cutting back on alcohol helps as well, especially cheep beer - they fill it with nitrates. If you have to drink, go with an organic wine.

This channel is so geared for MDs lol I'm doing my NP and we'd be focusing wayyy more on lifestyle modification to reduce the number and severity of flare ups vs just telling you what meds to shove down their throat in what order. How about reducing high purine foods ( cold cuts, hot dogs, pepperoni sticks, organ meats - liver in particular), cutting down on beer, drinking lots of water and so on. Wouldn't hurt to at least mention some of the common supplements on the market for gout - Potassium Citrate, Turmeric, Tart Cherry Extract, Vitamin C etc. Even if their scientific evidence isn't to your standard, they work for a lot of people, strong anecdotal evidence is also worth mentioning both for HCPs in training and those seeking non-pharmacological treatment options. Huge help though, thank you.

🙄🙄 the video is literally on the pharmacology of antigout medications, not on management of gout

@@matta8569 also I’m just pointing out that your comment makes no sense, the video is titled “pharmacology of antigout medications”, so you expect to talk about medications only, not non-pharmacological options. If this was a video titled “management of gout” and they only mentioned medications, you’d be completely fine to mention this!
