@@LeoFreemanAUST I am no strongman, but I can easily do that. Years ago, I could do it with a UK standard bag of cement (which weighs one twentieth of a tonne). However, if the person cannot lift the non-spinning wheel, he will not be able to lift the spinning wheel. The whole thing is an illusion: the naive observer sees the heavy weight on the end of a long axle, and imagines how hard that would be to support. In fact, even Superman would be unable to to it because, even if he could support the weight, the centre-of-gravity of the system could lie outside of his 'footprint' and he would fall over. The essential point is that the weight of the non-spinning wheel acts feet away from the lifter and is indeed impossible to support. BUT it is the torque (moment) about the wrist which makes it so and not the weight per se. Thanks to the precession of the spinning system, the weight then acts through the support-point (the hand) and the former torque disappears. It is that simple, and yet 'intelligent' people have been fooled by the trick for perhaps 200 years!

I had the same idea and drew a diagram of this concept when I was 17 in 85, without being aware of this guy’s attempts. I still have the sketch book in storage. Around the same time I was also obsessively drawing perpetual motion ‘overbalanced wheel’ devices without ever having seen one or being aware of Da Vinci’s original drawings. These are the thoughts that drive inventors mad, identical obsessions that appear seemingly from nowhere, experienced by different people in different places at different times, hard coded into the human psyche as genetic memories passed down through generations over millennia. This machine DOES produce lift, I have no doubt, but like a sterling engine, or a Crookes radiometer, or an opposing magnet motor, the output is so negligible compared to the energy applied it renders the machine useless for any practical application. Within Earth’s gravity, that is. In space, the thrust from the dynamo machine could potentially propel itself, however a free spinning motor to power it would have to be developed that could withstand the immense centrifugal forces required, which would be practically impossible to devise.

By Making Use of multiple Solid flywheels pointing outwards as he has with the two wheels and having those Heavy flywheels spin at an extreme rate of RPM while spinning around as this structure illustrates,A higher Antigravity effect can be Achieved. Anti Gravity is not achievable on this planet without the correct elements,Which is not found on this planet. Therefor the only way to achieve a form of Antigravity is to manipulate the current anti gravity force experience on this planet. By Use of such structures manipulating the Current gravity force to a state of opposite and equal counterforce, It might be successfully done. The engineering behind the concept is far greater than what is illustrated here , but it's a start.

But a twist or torque is very different than a force in a direction. Sandy is trying to convert the twist to a force in a direction without pushing on something else. The earth, air, or similar. If he did, it would be fantastic. However I don't see that happening here. Nor does it seem like a serious attempt to do so.

@@GeneStarwind344 A gyroscope? It would twist at a 90 degree angle to the force applied. Most satellites and spacecraft use gyroscopes to control their attitude. (what they point at) Look into a control moment gyro and a reaction wheel. That does not require gravity. Think about it this way: A motor such as a car engine or electric motor makes a twisting force. That is converted to a linear force to make a car go in a direction. But to do this the car pushes down on the ground. An airplane pushes on the air. A rocket pushes on it's own fuel and oxygen. Sandy is trying to convert the twisting force into a linear one without pushing on anything. And while it would be incredibly useful, it is also impossible based on the known laws of motion. If he did or does do that great, but he certainly does not appear to in this video.

I think that since the horizontal centrifugal force is cancelling out it's weight, or base weight, the counter rotation at the top now lifts the mass because the vertical gyros want to fly apart, but it's not enough centrifugal force to cancel the vertical weight, so the mass still want to fly apart on top. The inertia at the top is what's doing the lifting. Change the angle and you change the direction.

Mr. Kidd your effort of experimenting gyroscope phenomenon is commendable. I am no scientist, just a common layman, but through observation I personally think gyroscopes are special devices, while laying vertically, that can convert the spinning energy into a upward torque force. The phenomenon deserves much more scientific observation and development, and you deserve more credit in the scientific community. I can see that your device actually is not complicated to understand. It's essentially 2 near vertical gyroscopes. When those 2 rotate fast, they will produce upward torque force trying to stand upright, and when you spin them, the centrifugal force will force them down. So the centrifugal force and upward torque force combine together, it will generate an upward force. It's not violating any physical laws, just a special way to convert energy to directional force. I don't know why after so much research on it, scientists still not understand the theory. It's simple enough for a layman like me. The ISS should conduct some experiments like yours to find out if it can work in the space.

However, from someone who teaches this topic in a four-year US institution, I can tell you that unfortunately these ideas will fail due to entropy law. All mechanical systems have friction involved, and you can mathematically prove that no matter what configuration these parts are connected to each other, the system will stop after a particular time when the source of energy is disconnected. The only exception is moving at speed of light, or a mechanism in quantum scale which in both cases they violate the classical mechanics. That's the reason the big tech is doing quantum things because there may be such effect hidden in the fabric

But what is the center shaft touching? It IS constrained. I would love to see it rise without any constraints and hover in place (that would be so cool). It could be tested now days using RC drone hardware. Unfortunately for every force there is an equal and opposite force that will ensure that the whole thing will wobble violently and fall like a brick because there won't be anything to push off of. In this video unfortunately the apparatus has to leverage its upward motion against its axis of rotation. Without the support of the axle I'm pretty sure this device would flip and flop all over the place, not because of imbalance, but because of conservation of angular momentum. I have wanted to try this very experiment for many years, but it's not looking good.

  • @carmelpule6954

I am now much older than Professor Eric Laithwaite when he passed away, and I did go up to London to attend some of his lectures. I am to write is meant for others to think about and if they have the time and equipment, they can try and confirm it. I did it in my simple manner of home experimentations. 1. Keeping the spinning plane. The mass in the spinning wheel of a gyro acts in the plane of rotation and tries to keep it due to the high angular momentum. 2. Precession at 90 degrees. The plane of the spinning wheel may be looked upon being a lot of individual elemental masses placed on flexible radial spokes and each elemental mass can be treated individually. When the wheel is fast spinning on its axis all the radial masses are spinning with a high circumferential velocity/momentum depending on the radius and the spin rate. If at any moment, the spinning axis of the gyro wheel is tilted, then some mass at the end of the tilting radius will try and move out of the spinning plane while another on the opposite radius will move out of the spinning plane in the opposite direction on a diameter. So having an additional force/torque applied to them the elemental masses will accelerate out of the original spinning plane. As these elemental masses are tied with a constant radius with the axle, then while the tilt of the axis causes the particle to accelerate out of the relative halves of the wheel, their final " integrated circular motion" will be a maximum when the mass particles are in quadrature or 90 degrees to that location where they began to accelerate out of the original plane. Eventually when the tilt of the axis is long enough then all the mass particles on the spinning wheel will take up spinning in another plane at a 90-degree angle with the tilt that accelerated them out of the original plane. That is a 90-degree precession effect. 3. Precession and holding of a gyro on an extended shaft. If a spinning wheel is placed at the end of a long extended shaft where the free end is placed on a vertical stationary mast, and the spinning wheel at a radius R from the support mast, then as the wheel drops vertically, it tries to do this with the acceleration of 32 ft/sec^2 of gravity, which is relatively slow with respect to the velocity of the spinning mass particles. With the vertical drop, hence the tilting of the axle, the mass particles on the upper half of the spinning wheel will be "accelerated out" away from the central supporting mast and those in the lower half will be "accelerated in" towards the support mast. This acceleration one way and the other on the upper and lower half of the spinning wheel will cause the integrated acceleration to change the plane of spinning at 90 degrees to the initial vertical drop, horizontally. The spinning wheel changes its plane at a right angle to the vertical dropping, hence tilting axle. It is important to realize that the particles that accelerate out or in towards the central support mast are spinning much faster than the spinning wheel, as one whole unit, can drop due to slow gravity effects, so the top and bottom masses in the plane of spin, will try and replace each other so fast that they cause a high inertia fluctuation, similar as a big capacitor in a low pass filter objects to an AC fluctuation or "stationary mass inertia" be it electrical or statically and dynamically mechanically. This 90 egress action will try and fling the pivot support point on the central stationary mast in a horizontal direction, but it cannot as the mast is stationary, so the horizontal reaction must bring about the result as the free rotation of the whole spinning wheel about the stationary support mast. So "a tiny vertical drop" tried to precess the wheel in "a horizontal motion" at a related natural rate of change. 4. Precessed rising of the gyro. If the natural rate of change of the horizontal motion is hurried up ( or slowed) then a second precession process will take place and the reaction to it will be a 90-degree reaction where the spinning gyro will now lift, ( or drop) gaining (or losing) potential energy from the eternal input. If for any reason the whole spinning wheel is dropped vertically in a sudden action, then the gyro wheel will wobble along changing KE into a faster horizontal precession which in turn will raise the gyro and this transferred oscillation will proceed till it stabilizes, as it is damped down. There is another interesting reason why the spinning wheel of a gyro when on an extended axle on a central stationary mast may lift up to the vertical till its axle is perfectly vertical. 5. Rising (or dropping) of a gyro while precessing around central stationery must. When the fast-spinning wheel of a gyro spins and at the same time rotates /wobbles around a central stationary mast, and is SPUN AND TRANSLATED, then this spinning and translating effect will result in the spinning stationary circle, being modified into a type of cycloidal motion and what is more, the cycloidal motion of the particles on the spinning wheel will vary as the spinning wheel is tilted and then it rises and drops below the horizontal spinning axis. Any cycloidal trajectory, unlike a perfect circle, it will have a variation in velocity and in acceleration and hence the related generated forces with the varying acceleration as a particle moves along the cycloidal trajectory. If the extended axle of the gyro is about 45 degrees tilt, then the conical cycloidal trajectory of the spinning and precession wheel around the central support mast, the differential accelerations, hence the accompanying differential forces will " throw up" the whole gyro to lift it to try and reach the vertical position ( or the inverted vertical position). Here all the mass particles will be moving in a horizontal circle with constant velocities and constant accelerations and hence stable. In practical experiments, this vertical stable position ( as a spinning top) will be held till the gyro slowing down and the weight due to gravity will take over. It seems that all the internal cycloidal forces on the spinning particles of the gyro wheel are RADIAL to the center of the spinning wheel and hence these cycloidal acceleration forces will not precess the gyro hence the " throw up" and rising of the gyro dictated by the cycloidal differential accelerations. 6. Centrifugal force. If one looks into the differential accelerations that exist withing the tilted, conical, cycloidal trajectory of the mass particles in a spinning gyro wheel, one will notice that the accelerating components of the tilted acceleration vector of the elemental particles do oppose the centrifugal force. Many people declare that the centrifugal force in a spinning and precessing gyro " vanishes" and perhaps the solution is found in differential vectorial accelerations contained the cycloidal trajectory of spinning and translating and " circulating surface of a conical, tilted,, translating and spinning of a balanced wheel. Their another dynamic unbalances in a " statically and dynamically balanced wheel" 7. When the external torque on a gyro is removed suddenly, the wheel shows no inertia effect as it is not the whole mass of the wheel that is being translated, but effectively it is the elemental particles that are being displaced out of the spinning plane and hence effectively little inertia is shown when the outside force is reduced unless the whole spinning gyro is shot out and thrown off the muzzle of a gun, where all the mass is being translated. 8. The gyro cannot ever produce any action without any reaction and if one tries to propel a spacecraft with it, and try to spin the wheel in space to get it going, the spacecraft will spin back. If one seeks reactionless actions..........they must look elsewhere but not inside the gyro. 9, Finally here is the equation of a flat gyro operating on a rotating arm to check and approximate to the differential accelerations of the family of complex three-dimensional conical cycloids. I obtained and plotted these differences in accelerations as the cycloidal trajectory is followed and the difference of accelerations on the upper half and lower half of a spinning gyro. It is all very clear, hence the tiny differential repetitive forces give the gyro its elegance and unintuitive perplexing behavior. 10. Location of particle = R1. e^jw1.t + R2.e^jw2,t velocity of particle = R1. jw1.e^jw1.t + R2.jw2. e^jw2,t acceleration of particle=R1. (jw1)^2.e^jw1.t + R2.(jw2)^2. e^jw2,t I would be grateful if anyone would like to confirm this work. for reference to rising gyro see. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eIaq1M-NfKvej7A.html

@@dannymitchell2918 Thank you so much. The summary of the action is as follows. 1. The arrangement generates two centrifugal forces, one is inbound F1while the other is outbound F2 as conventional centrifugal force, both almost parallel to the axis of the gyro. The inbound and outbound forces can vary in magnitude and in a slight direction. These two centrifugal forces apply themselves automatically with a separation distance (x vertically and horizontally) in between them, on the spinning face of the gyro operating on the upper and lower horizontal halves ( vertical torque) and on the left or right side, vertical halves ( horizontal torque) of the spinning wheel. The results are as follows:- 2. They produce an internal torque to balance the gravity torque (m.g.R arm)=(F1+F2)*x 3. They produce the dynamic angular torque to produce the angular precession Wp, thus (I.Ws.Wp)= (F1+F2)*x where gravity torque equals dynamic angular torque. 4. If F1 is not equal to F2 then there is a resultant outward force generated which is the conventional centrifugal force with less effect. It is wonderful how the creation of the inbound force F1 diminishes the conventional centrifugal force. 5. The slight forward tilting angle of both forces produce the "traction " to pull the mass of the gyro forward relating to Wp>R arm. Normal dynamics (F1+F2)* sin( small angle in between F1 and F2 = m( d(Wp)/dt + air drag forces and other losses in the system appertaining the gyro motion. Actually, there is not even a necessity to consider that F1 and F2 are not actually parallel to but acting in the opposite direction. Thank you once again. It is such a pity that many people did not realize how it all operates and went through many heartaches in the last century.

Not quite, but it's not antigravity nonetheless. It's simply an oscillation similar to if you were to propel a weight up and down. While you propel the weight down, you experience lift but sooner or later, you run out of stroke and conservation of momentum reclaims that lift to jerk you back down. Gyroscopes with their stored momentum could extend this effect but conservation of momentum will still come into play, just a bit later.

There once was a man named Sandy Who spent all his time being handy He built a machine with great care But his wife Janet could only stare The contraption was a sight to behold But its purpose was never quite told It hummed and it whirred But their marriage was blurred Janet pleaded, "Please come to bed" But Sandy was glued to his shed He tinkered and tweaked But their love had leaked So now Sandy's invention stands alone A monument to a love that's flown He may have built a machine of wonder But his marriage was torn asunder.

Yeah, and it's been a very long time since this video was made and til this day we still haven't heard anything else about it. I wonder why??? I don't see this ever seeing the light of day at least not in my lifetime. Thank's for the video and for the information I appreciate it because it goes to show us that there are great ideas out in the world. But it's really sad that we haven't heard anything else about it in all these years. I could only imagine how this amazing technology would change our world for the better but will it ever be given the chance to change the world is my most anticipated question to be answered. I was wondering have you or anyone else heard anything else about this man or his amazing technology??? It's 2019 now and I still don't have my flying car yet and I starting to believe I never will either. I would really love it if you could do a follow up on this subject and this man's idea.
