Metal is fun. It’s joy. It’s a brotherhood. I’m glad they let that show
Great stuff! Only small complaint is about Corey Taylor claiming Metallica and Slayer in 85-86 were wearing expensive "costumes" on stage. Metallica in that era made a name for themselves largely for just wearing jeans and tee shirts. Slayer were much the same back then. Most you'd see was a leather jacket here and there (James and Kerry). Corey Taylor s a dork.
I'm like Dave when i'm listening to Anthrax ❤🤘🏼

"I can't be into the band more than the guys on the stage are into the band", well said mr. Zombie. That's why Anthrax rocks live so hard. They bring the energy with them every time and it's infectious.
I think the unsung heroes of this documentary's series are the caterpillars standing in for Scott's eyebrows.

I graduated high school in 1985 I am glad I grew up when metal was in its beginnings I always had Anthrax cranked on my car stereo!
I'm from Brazil and been a metal head since 1985. I remember the Brazilian metal bands all looked evil, dressed in black and talked about the devil. That's what Sepultura were about in Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions. Then in 1986 they shocked us with Schizophrenia. But not only for the music they started making, but also because the way they were dressing: they started wearing beach shorts and colored t-shirts, backwards baseball caps, looked goofy and smiled a lot on pictures. We didn't understand why, for there were no Anthrax albums released in Brazil yet. We understood it a bit later, when Anthrax got more popular and started appearing on metal magazines. They were a huge influence on Sepultura's attitude at that point.

Love the cameos on this episode, this was such a great album and STILL IS! Dan's Sneaker game was so dope back in the days too!
I was totally into New Wave in the early 80s. I was born in 1970, so the 80s were my teenage years. By age 15 I started getting into heavier music. Mtv was huge in the 80s, and was my primary source for discovering new music. The first heavy metal song I really got into was “Run To The Hills” by Iron Maiden. I loved it from the first time I saw the video. That got me into watching Headbangers Ball. In 1986 Anthrax hosted Headbangers Ball, and from the second I heard them I was hooked on thrash metal and, especially, Anthrax. They were my favorite band through the 80s. Now, 35 years later, I still love Anthrax and thrash. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long.

I just bought it digitally (I know, I know...) as, to my shame, I realised I didn't actually own a copy and the production sounds kind of muddy to me. Only criticism as the songs are pretty much flawless. What I love about it is the cover art: very minimal, un-metal like (for the time) and open to interpretation. I mean, remove all the wording and most people would have no clue as to what type of music we're dealing with (unlike the first two albums!). Very mature decision for the band. Of course, it's since gone on to be an iconic image and the single one most associated with Anthrax (bit like Metallica's MOP cover).
Seen Anthrax 6 or 7 times here in the UK. They're still the funnest live band ever!
I like watching Scott Jam with other famous guitarists. You can see a little kid glowing over his own awe of the situation, not even realizing he is that same metal god in our eyes. A humble god he is.

Anthrax was The Perfect unit with Joey. No Metal band at the time could Touch Them imo.
Every metal band needs to hop on board and do episodes like Anthrax is doing. It would be awsome to see!
Proud and fortunate to have witnessed the rise of Thrash out of the underground. 1985 was the year it all broke out and Spreading the Disease is one of those albums that exemplified this era. I still love it to this day!

Got the vinyl of Spreading in 1986 in Rome at this awesome store called Disfunzioni Musicali, and it's still part of my collection. I just love these guys, they're genuine. They introduced the fun element in thrash metal as well as elements of urban culture that at the the time made me relate to these guys like no other metal band. One thing I love about Anthrax, and what still draws me to them, they're people that you know! They could live down your street, you could've gone to school with them. I remember seeing the MADHOUSE Video on Nightflight a long time ago it was awesome. I love the guitar tone from that album. next one Among. Hell yes.
Hell yeah! I remember reading my brother's copy of Smash Hits mag in '86 where it carried a small column of interview with Scott, along with a pic of him, his guitar and a boot hanging at the end of it. That's how much thrash metal influence Anthrax flexed into the pop culture. \m/
I've rediscovered Anthrax through this video series. Was a HUGE fan in high school, Spreading and Among era. I actually got to hang with them on their Among the Living tour. It was before the show, David Wayne (Metal Church, RIP) asked my friends and I if we were security. Umm...lol, no. He was cool though and said we probably shouldn't be backstage. Then, like Slayer, I think I started to take myself to seriously. Rock on Scott and company. On a side note, Scott called my an asshole on Twitter a few years back. My claim to fame lol. I deserved it.
I'm loving this series! Some awesome cameos on this episode... Michael Paulson and Nergal?! Hell yes!
I love that Scott said we never wanted or needed to have that band fasad....

WHY DIDN"T ANYBODY TALK ABOUT GUNG-HU????? HOW COULD YOU?????? GUNG HO IS THE MOST BRUTAL SONG OF THAT ERA!!!! Anthrax was always very fun to watch. Even when they play Indians and Caught in a Mosh for the 700th time, it's like they're as into it as they were back when they wrote those songs.
