@@romelnegut2005 because it’s not our official anthem and it’s because some people from Northern Ireland would not sing our actual anthem if it was played so Ireland’s call was put in to replace that hope u understand

This version is Ahmrán na Bhfiann, the original is actually A Soldier's Song😊 @Ulster Scot - I'd hate to have God Save The Queen as my national anthem! At least Ahmrán na Bhfiann/Soldier's Song is about the people of Ireland and not the monarchy.. Yawn!

The reason he doesn’t sing is because he focuses on the game ahead and feels singing distracts him from that

Amhrán na bhFiann is the anthem of the Republic, we pretty much learn it as soon as we start school at 5 years of age, Rory's from the north where the Irish language isn't taught in most schools

It is a little bit complicated. In Rugby Union, there is only Irish National Team including players from both Ireland and Northern Ireland so that there are 2 anthems. However, the English anthem 'Ireland's Call' is not the national anthem of Ireland while it is only a symbol of union of Ireland and Northern Ireland. BTW, Rory Best is from Northern Ireland. Let's say in soccer, there is not only Irish National Team but also Northern Irish National Team. Then the anthem of Northern Irish National Team is 'God Save the Queen'. When England and Northern Ireland play against each other, 'God Save the Queen' will only be played once since 2 teams share the same anthem.
