Anthem AVM 70 8K Review | This was the missing piece in my theater...

Ғылым және технология

I review and give pretty much my full opinion on my new Anthem AVM 70 8K processor (sovrn.co/w5si050). Now that I have a full separates setup and I can give my full opinion on whether it's worth the cost/trouble. With this processor, I have almost enough channels of processing to implement my 17 channel home theater in my new theater build.
This is definitely one the best values in home theater processors on the market right now that process 15 channels or 9.2.6 home theater setups. If you're looking for a new processor for your home theater, this should be at the top of your list. This gives you very good performance and is relatively attainable for many enthusiasts.

Congratulations on your purchase. I look forward to hearing more about adjustments and fine tuning you make with ARC-g as you become more accustomed to what it does and how it sounds. It is noteworthy that the outputs are hotter than popular brands, thus -0 is not the industry reference point of 85 db. You might use a SPL to find reference. Most people claim it is -17 to -15. Many listen comfortably at around -24 which still gives plenty of sonic power.

I just bought the AVM70 as well. Coming from the Marantz world, I was extremely impressed with the sound quality, even before running ARC, which brought it to an even better performance level. My general observations seem to mirror yours. I love its performance but my AV7702 mkII did do a better job with the menu and OSD. I had the same experience with both the bass and overall loudness. One other thing I had issues with was getting the unit to perform a firmware update. I finally got it done but it was anything but intuitive. The good news is Anthem could make this unit even better with future firmware updates. Great unit. Congrats!

I should have been more clear about the loudness. It’s like reference on my receiver would be 0db and in the anthem I’m getting the same volume at -10db. I just need to mentally recalibrate my expectations.

I think you hit the nail on the head with law of diminishing returns, the AVM 70 is probably providing 90% of the experience a Trinnov would but for 20% of the price. I love my Anthem MRX 740 but really would like to have an independent second sub output. That plus mine being HDMI 2.0 has me looking hard at an AVM70 or MRX1140. With this current sale I am really fighting the urge to get the AVM 70 8K for $3400 or just getting the HDMI 2.0 version for $2600.

I own both, so I'd say an Anthem Pre-pro gets you about 75% to a Trinnov. 3D rempapping, the software processing power, and optimization on the latter is next level, although not worth its retail asking price. You need to shop secondhand like Upscaled to make it worth it. Keep your eye out for AVM 70 8ks. I just scooped up an open box 8k like the OP did for $2560. The outlet units will reflect the current sale price, which ends Mar 31st

6050ub has 2600 lumens. I may have to run at high power but it should be ok. Using a 1.3 gain screen too. It's another reason I didn't want to go for an acoustically transparent screen with speakers behind it because they tend to have lower gain.

The new bipolar ones. They’re a slight upgrade. Extra driver in the rear and an upgraded tweeter. I think it has a built Dsp for the powered sub. I won’t be upgrading but I bet they sound good. Hi all, wondering if anyone is aware of a new or recently new processor or receiver that supports 3D video. Emotiva's recievers do not according to the literature and then an email response from them. It would seem 3D support is being phased out, I get it, but there are plenty of folks out there with a number of 3D titles. I have a Pioneer Elite whose manual says 3D ready but would not pass it from my 3D capable player to my capable projector. My HDMI cables are the correct version. Purchased an Onkyo TX-RZ820 and been enjoying 3D when I'm in the mood. But that receiver will not support a full on Atmos speaker config. So been looking for a possible upgrade. Looked at the Onkyo RZ50 but no indication in the manual that it supports 3D vid.

I’m going to make a video specifically about 3-D movies in the coming weeks. I might be able to address some things in there. My anthem avm70 8k plays back 3d no problem. I think Support for 3-D is embedded within the HDMI standard starting with version 1.4. My guess is that most modern receivers would support it.

@@Upscaled_HTGood luck with the new theater build. Genesis Arc is wonderful tech as you stated but I had the same initial reaction to it as you. Coming from mid tier Denon and Yamaha receivers I was so accustomed to doing on the fly changes via remote and corresponding apps. Purchased a gently used AVM60 last summer and had to get used to using laptop to run Genesis. It's worth the time and adjustment to master. The information via Anthem website is a trove of information along with the product manual that was included with my purchase. There are some very good YTers as well who have covered the Anthem products and software as well. I personally enjoy @Techthusiasm.

Anthems are very weak and of poor quality, the 7 series can reach 70 watts in 8 ohms, 7 channels in 5 channels, which means it drops to 35 or even 30 watts in 4 ohms, if a 4 ohm speaker is connected or 6 ohms, the minimum impedance of this speaker drops to 2.5 or 3 if it falls, then this is the best possibility, the sudden sound will turn on at high volume
