Anterior Ceramic Veneers, Part 5: Super Veneer

Фильм және анимация

In clinical practice, treating anterior teeth esthetically has always been difficult. Many restorative solutions, including resin composites, all-ceramic crowns, and ceramic veneers, have become available as a result of advancements in dental materials. In these situations, dentists and patients must select the best option to enhance oral health and aesthetic outcomes. In this video, Dr. Richard Stevenson demonstrates about Anterior Ceramic Veneers - Super Veneer.

    Thank you very much for the great content. I have a small request and i dont mean to be greedy, but would you please follow the veneer series with a series on occlusion, which is very important to understand and at the same one of the most misunderstood topics amongst dentists. Like the how to establish CR using lucia jig, and how to equilibrate a bite etc etc. thanks again

    Congrats on such amazing and educational content on your videos doctor! I have one question: wouldn't it be better to keep the class V as it is, insteading of filling it with the flowable composite, for extra retention ? After cementation the space would be filled as well. Thanks so much for everything, I've learned a lot with you!

    What a wonderful work but can i ask you about bond strength if these case i mean if we have exposed dentin 50 percent do you think it good case for a veneer? Data show increase of failure with dentin exposure , so whats your opinion ?? Thanks

    Thank you for the nice informative video,it was great,my question is how many millimeters do you open the contacts?also is super veneer same as vonlay? thanks again for the great work

  • @StevensonDentalSolutions

    @StevensonDentalSolutions

    4 жыл бұрын

    The contacts are only slightly opened using a diamond IPR strip - about 40 microns - just enough to separate the dies in the lab and protect the finish lines form being damaged when the tires are separated. A vonlay is when a posterior onlay is extended to cover the facial for esthetic enhancement. A super-b veneer is a typical facial veneer that wraps over the lingua enough to gain resistance and retention form. The are related but the vonlay is a term used for posterior teeth and a super veneer is a term used for anterior teeth...

    Is there a certain amount of lingual reduction required? For ceramic crown it's ~1 mm. Are we aiming for that here also even if the finish line may be above where the opposing tooth occludes? Thanks!

  • @StevensonDentalSolutions

    @StevensonDentalSolutions

    4 жыл бұрын

    With an enamel only preparation with bonding, the ceramic is mostly under compressive forces and requires very little thickness when adhesively bonded, hence as little as 0.8 mm would work, but 1.0 mm is better in areas where contacts occur. Also, we try to avoid contacts on marginal areas as well. Thank you!

    Doctor you said here that emax is indicated for super veneers when when we have more dentin or unsupported ceramic. But can we also use emax for labial or lingual wrap veneers? I believe they can also be made as thin as 0.3mm. Or feldspathic ceramic are better choice? Thank you in advance

  • @StevensonDentalSolutions

    @StevensonDentalSolutions

    2 жыл бұрын

    e.max is very very difficult to thin to 0.3 mm but it is possible with an exceptional technician. Feldspathic may be made thinner and has the distinct advantage of having intrinsically crafted modifications to shade and translucency.

    @@StevensonDentalSolutions Thank you Dr. for taking the time and answering my questions. So what do you think a dentist should do when his lab doesn't make feldspathic porcelains and is incapable of making the e.max this thin? What would be the next material of choice that can be used without sacrificing tooth structure, remaining in enamel, and looking natural? Many Thanks

    i did not understand why that shelf was created on one side

  • @StevensonDentalSolutions

    Super veneers require additional retention due to the lack of enamel present (less than 50%), hence the auxiliary retention afforded by the vertical wall created with the shelf.
