Do the Karanas still change money? With them its safer and I remember that they would better rates. In the 90's there would be the trains only from Tana to Tamatave and I regret not taking it.As for the cars ,We used to drive 4x4 but we will still get stuck for hours and you would see the old Renault 4L overpassing you because when you get stuck in the bush you will always have 4 guys to lift it up for you.

Yes the Indians will always change money in Madagascar and every other country world wide I changed €200 just last week with one of them that owns a sweet shop. Renault 4L are still running strong and used as taxis + a lot of them get there roofs chopped of to use as private cars by the Foreigners they cost Between $500 and $2000 Depending on condition

In the centre of bangkok you can find a nice hotel room for about 15 usd (hot shower, aircon), in madagascar with gdp per capita at least 5x lower you would expect the price for the same to be lower but it actually is higher. WTF is up with hotels in tana there are no options any local could afford 🥴🤦

Thailand is more developed more money more tourism, there are local hotels for the locals but you wouldn't won't to stay there. Mada is 50 years behind in many ways but that's what Attracts many tourists it's like living in a different world

It's dangerous to walk after dark in all parts of Antananarivo especially as a tourist best to be safe and use a taxi imo It's safe in the day time

Despite the huge proverty , Madagascar is a great place to be . Cost of life is very low and the weather is good . Foods are almost natural and people like to enjoy life . There are no religious tension there contrary to some Asian country . A lot of foreigner settle here because they are fed up with the stress and the west capitalist mentality . There is a certain charm in living Madagascar .Tana is good but the coast side of Madagascar are better to live in because of the beach and the countryside nature . But the country must evolve in healthcare and it must be industrialised a bit cause there is a huge jobless situation .

@@passivenomads BTW good business oppertunity, take 10 new smartphones in your luggage back to madagascar and sell them for a profit. My friend did that with brazil, bought a lot of new smartphones in europe and sold them in brazil, huge profit. Taxes on smartphones and electronica are very high in Brazil(but nobody is going to check you luggage for smartphones), if thats the case with madagascar start packing your luggage with new smartphones when you go to madagascar lol.

@@passivenomads I assure you that, medically, females can conceive, if sexually active, before their first period. Their very first released egg becomes fertilised, so no need for a period! Why they mature sexually 6-7 years before full adult growth at 18 is another matter -- but related to human evolution, modern diets, vaccines and even electric lighting! Girls in Victorian England typically had their first periods at 16. The world's youngest-ever documented mother was Lina Medina of Peru who gave birth in 1939, aged 5.
