I think you can bring a chainsaw on a plane. Easier to do it with a brandnew one than used because no gas is allowed in the tank. Peobably easier to prove no gas in a new chainsaw. I do not know if madagascar has different rules

It's on all the check in desks in the UK and Madagascar right next to guns I did once take 2 chainsaws to mada and back to the UK with no problems
