Спорт

In a wide-ranging interview, former special forces soldier Ant Middleton talks about life as a public figure, the morality of war and the serene simplicity of life on the front line. He also reveals the one movie that gave him a flashback to a mission in Afghanistan.

Made me look at some things I need to address in myself....Just watched it yesterday and today I hear he's been hit by the cancel culture for offending a bunch of nasty so and so's who where breaking the law and being anti social...that's what happens when you let snow flakes run the world....Ant your a legend brother and this was a great show! Thanks!

    It was lovely to meet Ant at Pompey FC One dark tuesday night.I'm ex Navy with SF family and Ant is on the money. I was fired by the Military. No help, just "go. You are not fit to serve". Ant is growing like the rest of us... People will judge Ant... but he is totally honest. We all make mistakes.. loving his words .. My boss asked the team on a daily teams meeting what me and another 2 guys had done in the military.. have to say I did explain my week in Bosnia puttng women n children on trucks to go to Zenica refugee center. No men of fighting age.. was asked if I'd been shot at.. yes but they didn't really mean it... good to talk.. and Ant is so honest... emotions... thank you Ant! Fancy a wet sometime. A quiet one and a smile or two ?

    Massive respect for Ant Middleton, one of the most inspiring interviews I've listened to in a long while. I feel like Ant is a very wise man who has cracked the code on life, this mindset is what sets him apart from many others. Smart questions too that really seemed to bring out his insight and lessons learned from past experiences. Kudos from Sweden!

I have just read his book „ the fear bubble“. Read it! It is a non professional but very intelligent approach to encounter difficulties in life general and under pressure . As a „side effect“ - i love the English language. It is direct and fits perfectly well with Ant ´s character.

    I was UK forces for 9 years, similar background to Ant, and worked in an elite field as a submariner (Some may laugh but it is elite and we received special service pay just as the SAS/SBS). I dived and jumped from planes and often worked with SBS operatives and later SAS Operatives. Ant and his mates have my full respect and I wish I had taken his path and explored my full potential.

    Those are the exact type of dreams that I have after 4 tours. I will be somehow transported back to a combat zone and my weapon won't work or I won't have ammo for it. Often I dream that my equipment is somewhere and I have to escape and evade to get to my equipment. I never find it, I never figure out why my weapons won't work, or all the magazines are empty. I don't get sweaty or wake up in terror or anything. I simply wake up and think "thank god it was just a dream" and then lay awake until the alarm goes off.

    Love the interview and a great in site into Ants views and thoughts, however, about the incident where he says he held off from taking the shot at a known combatant, he said I held off from pulling the trigger and saved they guys life. Quite commendable but how many lives may he have cost by not taking that shot? Did that guy go on to kill many more people?? Not really giving an opinion as I can see what he means but just a thought from my side 🤔

    If you put it into a civilian context that would mean the cops could just fire at will at established criminals, even though at that moment they might not be pointing their guns. That‘s not how it works, tho, is it? No many would have resisted taking that shot, to be sure, but I think killing needs to be in tune with ones own moral system….

    @@lynnm6413 yes but like I said it’s not really being detrimental about him not taking the shot just asking the question “what if”. Also not talking about civilian police as they are governed by different rules as in the UK they police by public consent don’t they and if they shot criminals out of hand, here they would lose that consent. As it is I understand that police in the UK would shoot a terrorist on sight as they could be suspected of carrying a bomb and would not enter into a should I shouldn’t I question that question would already have been answered back at the command base. And no one can possibly answer my question “how many others did he go on to kill?” Maybe none, maybe hundreds 🤷‍♂️

    @@raptorone7327 I am German, so I don't know much about UK police besides the fact that they are letting women get beaten and assaulted by TRA's. As a person whose job also includes killing I only follow my own assessment of whether or not I can stand behind the decision, I've certainly stepped back a few times even though I was ordered to do it.

    @@lynnm6413 ok! Well I don’t know which women are getting beaten or who the TRA’s are🤷‍♂️. If you are military or police you are luck to have such open minded superiors/colleagues who let you make up your own mind who you kill. It’s quite a progressive view point.

    I've never faced that situation ... you're after a 'bad guy', who's been firing at you who then retreated into cover ... he comes out, weapon down, you've got a clear shot but don't take it ... he goes back into cover but then comes out firing ... maybe takes out one or more of your mates or maybe later takes the lives of others ... the morality of not taking a life just because you can is to be lauded ... but how do you deal with that ?

  • @hadynvarley4625
    @hadynvarley46252 жыл бұрын

    I think I know what your dream means: In the military you have been use to facing threats head on, picking up your weapon and defending or attacking, in civi street that is not an optio, this means your old way of thinking is no longer affective or accepted, you can't deal with the civilian life in the same way and these are your frustrations coming out. Sorry if you already new this.

    This guy is certainly worth his weight. Nations are won and lost in battles fought by his type and his fellow soldiers. Many don’t know that, acknowledge it, and so can’t respect it. They think that we can all just play nice and sing Kym by ya and everything will be rosy with the world. That ignorance is the other tragedy of war.
