A date night every week saved our marriage. No excuses, have a back up sitter, make reservations and have rules. No talk about kids, the house, or money. That focuses on the two of you. The kids understand that’s your priority.

And no cells.... And should you adopt .. please adopt an American child... I love watching you guys. Something that tore my marriage apart was letting the children play us against each other .. please don't allow the children to see that they can... that's my only advice.. now go love on one another😅

The fact that Derek was awkward on his first date with Sarah is very endearing because there’s something very innocent about it and that he’s definitely not a player. Beautiful story, guys. Love the Q&A.

I lived with a couple who would have once a week couch dates when they were in the trenches of having little kids. They would schedule it ahead of time on their calendar and just spend time talking on the couch and considered it a real date. I always thought that was such a sweet and practical idea

My husband and I just celebrated our 18th anniversary and one thing we decided a long time ago is when we are on a date we can talk about all the problems with kids and family struggles. But when we get to our date place all the changes and we can only talk about us. It has been amazing. We still continue to learn about each other every day. Praying for your next 7 years. God bless

Love to watch you guys. Piece of unsolicited advice. Dont make the same mistake I did. I wanted to raise my kids different than the way I was raised so didnt really discipline. And constantly bought gifts because my parents always said no. But after having a little monster on my hands, with my son (from the age of 3. He wouldnt share, threw a fit when told no and even acted worse when people were around if that was even possible. I bribed, just to get a minute of good behavior, worse thing, dont do it. I finally thought screw this. I turned out to be a great person BECAUSE of my parents. Kind and compasionate, always serving God and others. Sooo consistant discipline is the best gift you can give your children (whew, and yourself.) If there is not a hard line, they will ALWAYS PUSH THE BOUNDRIES. AND kids are happier when there is structure. I promise, you all will be much happier. Start NOW with Jack (I see the signs)😢 or you will have an out of control, crazy kid like I did. Its hard because we love them and want to give them everything, but then they grow up expecting everything, demanding everything and havent learned compassion because there are no consequences. Let them know what behavior you wont accept and then stick to it. Be consistent. Put the work in now and things will get much easier. The old saying "say what you mean, and mean what you say" has never been truer! This comment is left with the utmost love and respect. You are good people and yes your son can be good because of that but without discipline, genetics are not enough. Take care.

Agree!!!!! My 2 were in the age group of yours. I needed help with energy. My house was messy and no energy to be consistent with kids training. Weight training will help with listlessness , or even being lazy with housework. Write out a plan, daily routine, you will bloom with structure. You can take this as being told what to do and miss out lol

I am thankful that you are going to raise your children in church. I raised my girls in a Christian home and they went to Christian schools from preschool to graduating high school. My eldest daughter wanted to go to a Christian college but I also knew that she needed to be around other people and those who weren’t raised in the same way as she was. She’s a teacher and has her foundation. The twin daughters went to BYU and they decided to be a part of the LDS Church. They thought that I would be mad at them for doing that however, I let them know that they have a foundation at that their walk is where they feel fulfilled. It doesn’t matter what religion they choose to go to, just that they are happy in their relationship with Christ. So, good for you for choosing the best path for your family.

Hi! Just want to tell you how very much I am enjoying all your videos. You are such a good example of young married people with great values and morals. I love your sense of humour (Canadian spelling) and how open you are with each other! The video on how you first met was just so darn sweet! Seeing Derik now it's fun to hear how shy he was at first. You don't find that much these days. I found it delightful. As to your parenting!! Every child should grow up in such a loving fun environment. I get it that it is not all rosy. I was a single Mom for all but 8 months of my sons life and met all the challenges and he is great. But gosh how he would have benefited to have two loving parents! I love to watch you staying positive. Thank you for sharing!

So very impressed with how dedicated you are to improving and honoring each other and your children❤❤❤ And honestly, im sure Sarah was sad to have been alone with the kids on your anniversary, but it wasn’t like that was the plan! I think Derik should get a pass. Especially because you both really encourage each other to take time out for friends regularly. That is so darn healthy, even though it is tough when the kids are young. Bravo all!!!

To think I found the Beeston Bunch through Ozzys "EyeBoo" shorts and stumbled upon your page. Sarah, you remind me of my bestest bestie since 7th grade and Derrik is the like my younger brother. I absolutely enjoy both Beeston families and pray you all stay blessed today and always. My best marriage advice (And I'm on my 2nd marriage, so take from this what you will or don't. The second time is much more peaceful for me.) is to try not to hold onto anger. Disagreements are normal with couples. Just try to fight fair. (Remember, you're both human and evolving constantly. ) You will go to bed angry sometimes but cooler heads prevail. Sometimes a good nights sleep can help calm the vibe. And last but not least, laugh, keep laughing. Your sense of humor will get you through so much. You both seem like beautiful souls and I'm cheering you guys on. The love you have for your babies is palpable and obvious to anyone paying attention. You're gonna feel strained and distance at times. Marriage is hard.. And it isn't for the faint of heart but as long as you know the core of the other person and respect each other, everything will fall together as it should. Just always be kind even if you can't always be nice to one another. And again, laugh.. Love light and hugs.

Hey, so as a old lady in comparison to y’all. My best advice from a now single woman (parent) I was in a 13 yr relationship w/ my kids father. But the best advice that stuck w: me (but didn’t resonate so much with him) is that “do u want to right or do u want to be happy?” And when your simply right fighting to prove your “right” then you both end up wrong. Because for you to “win” your partner has to loose” - it’s so much more important to agree to disagree on a lot in a relationship and then from that point instead of focusing on who’s right focus on how to compromise and both win. Picking your battles carefully. Most in the grand scheme of things do not matter. My rule of thumb is “will this matter 3 yrs from now” - answer is usually no. Then it’s not worth the battle!

@@laurar9474 they have mentioned multiple times they are members of the LDS church, it’s just not the focus of their channel. A lot of the popular couple/family channels are Christian (varying denominations) and don’t often talk about it, most like to keep the viewer appeal to members of other faiths. I watch these guys because they’re lovely, if their faith helps them be that way, I respect that too.

Happy Anniversary!! Ours is the 16th and we celebrated 15 years! We decided to celebrate the big ones as their more important. Like ones that end in 0 or 5. The other ones are more mellow. This year, we forgot our anniversary until the 9th, we forgot it was June, we had a lot going on. 1st time ever, so it does happen. Since Derek was traveling, he had a lot going on. Sarah seems to understand, that's all that matters. Happy Anniversary!!

They’re just like every other couple. Everyone has their arguments, everyone has up and down days. Not every couple will agree to therapy. I think what they’re doing for themselves to keep their relationship strong and healthy has a positive outlook for them and their kids. The kiddos look so happy and healthy. Well taken care of. ❤ Now I have a question. 😂 Do you ever do anything with Sunny’s hair? Tiny barrettes, bows, comb it back etc…? Many Blessings to you all. ❤
