@JayzTwoCents Fun fact, I was a manager at a PCClub for a few years(until the founder's son ran the company into the ground...) and we didn't suffer any losses from defects returns. We sent them back to the manufacturers for credit on new inventory. Sure it cost some shipping but that was factored into the costs of operation. Do not in any way feel bad about those returns, it wouldn't have done much, if any, harm or loss.

My earliest memory is from when I was around 4½, and I guess it's because it is a pretty potent memory, as I was at Legoland with my family. Back in like early 2000s I wanted to quiet my fans down and PSUs all had the old 4-pin molex ketchup and mustard style. I did the 7v mod where you swap the 5v and the grnd to the 12v fans run at 7v. And it was all correct. But I forgot there was a hard drive on that same power chain cuz my friends were there we had to get started playing board games. I turned the machine on and blue smoke blew out the back of the tower. For those that don't understand OHM's law, when you halve the voltage on the same load, you double the current and therefore power draw which melted the plastic housing on the PSU lines. Somehow that PSU still mostly worked afterwards, except that one line.

14:29 Undervolting is the the act of shifting the entire frequency voltage curve to the left 1 or more notches meaning higher frequency for the same voltage So what will have actually happened to them is running out of power headroom and the act of higher frequency lower voltage is allowing the card to stay at a lower voltage and have more current available at that frequency than it otherwise would have For my 3090 for example my curve starts at +235 at 0.7c and slowly tapers off to +30 at 1.025v because i run out of power limit before the card hits max frequency

I don't know if this would work similiar or same on CPUs but I had undervolted my 2600 and it would have a bit lower temps and boost to 3.9 (the normal boost allowed by defaults and bios unless you change clocks) and the clocks were set to auto, my idea was during a game or something it would boost down to keep temps/stability but I still had computer going black screen and be "frozen" (turned on but non responsive). Trying to research people said this could've been due to the PSU despite the wattage being enough, the quality and build of it in a way that it would overcharge and make it jump causing the issue. I changed that since and instead of a set voltage I put an offset and now it boosts only to 3.725 (Ghz) but temps are handled which is what I cared about. So far no issues, so we'll see how that goes. My shotty house electricity might've played some part on that too but can't tell for sure.

I can't really say how long they'll last but for maintenance - I do have an AIO, switched from an air cooler, and in my opinion there is no extra maintenance. Just open your case occasionally to dust/vacuum, (which you should occasionally do anyways for air coolers), and vacuum the radiator it can get dust in there (and don't let your fans spin when you do them because the spin creates voltage and can zap your mobo - either hold it still or disconnect fan first. Jay has brought this up) good luck!

Being a mechanic isn't that bad. I'm a diesel tech and I still wrench and build stuff after work but I do go through down times where I don't touch a wrench other then work for a while. But I think we all have bad days

Backlight LEDs are cheap and pretty easy to fix. I've done several TVs in the 50" to 70" range and never paid more than 75 bucks for a full array. It's just LED strips adhered to a metal chassis behind the filters, diffusers, and other layers on the front of the panel. Once you pull the back panel and front bezel it exposes everything you need to get to. I had a mid-range Samsung TV that didn't even require any tools until I got to the point of separating the LED strips from the chassis and that's only because I had to break the adhesive holding the strips in place. It was all clips and tabs holding everything together. If you find out what panel Asus is actually using, there are probably replacement LED strips for it. You might even be surprised to find out that the panel is actually just a common LG or Samsung. It's not the panel that gives you the refresh rate, it's the mainboard that does the processing within the monitor.

Just to follow up. A site called ShopJimmy that I use to buy 90% of my TV replacement parts from does have parts for Asus monitors also. If they don't have the exact parts, someone will. It might be worth looking into to see if you can find the replacement parts for the Asus BFGM and would certainly make for one heck of a video if you can find the parts and get it working again. Back to what I said in my original comment, you may even take apart the monitor and find out that the LED panel is just a common panel used by many manufacturers, which would make it even easier to find replacement parts.

I still have yet to find an actual source of this 'gleam links are banned'. KZread has rules regarding what contests may entail, but I have not found anywhere that says you cannot link to gleam.

I’m also proud to say that in 30 years of building computers I have only ever forgotten to take the peel off the CPU cooler. Of course the first decade + that wasn’t an issue.

Any help appreciated. So basically I've built a pc last Saturday with an ASUS TUF Z790 plus wifi DRR5, intel i5 13600k and rtx 3060 ti. Basically everything works. Got it first boot, everything went smooth windows installation and bios update too. Now for some reason when i restart to access my bios it doesn't show up the motherboard logo or AMI BIos. It's just straight boots to windows, unless i go to advanced startup to access bios. I tried several times with my keyboard for the f1, f2 and del key. But my keyboard goes on and off i can tell that by the rgb turning on and off. The rgb only turns on when i see the windows boot logo. Also in the bios the options mrc fast boot and fast boot are enabled. Also the fast startup is enabled in windows. Also the post delay time on bios is set to 3 seconds. Just to be clear i haven't changed anything in the bios unless for XMP. Thanks in advance
