The sad thing is that NHG (WR holder for 15th anniversary edition of this game) contacted me shortly after I got back and explained a few tricks to me that would have been useful for the run. Ah well. Maybe I'll run it again some day. :)

Thanks so much for doing this run! It's such a classic :) Persuaded my friend to download it on PS4, it took us about an hour! Ha. Great nostalgia value for me. Heart Of The Alien was a game Eric Chahi never wanted to make, he only wanted to do another game if it could be Another World but from the perspective of the alien, as opposed to a direct sequel. The ending of HOTA reflects this. (I won't spoil it for anyone.) I for one, never want to play it because I know how it ends. Ugh.

Playing Out Of This World as a 5 year old (right when it came out!) with my dad on our Apple II GS is my first gaming memory. I remember being completely blown away by this alien world. I remember how long it took us to figure out some of the puzzles, and the frustration of getting through a difficult section, only to find that we didn't know about shooting out the wall so we could get to the swim section. I remember how excited we both were when we (mostly my dad) finally beat it! Still my all time favorite game because of these memories. Made me a gamer forever.

I forgot to mention - I remember my dad throwing the keyboard across the room after dying for the 30th time at some tricky section, haha!

I love how the audience in these videos always look like windows 98 fashion week.

I became obsessive about this game as a kid, played it for weeks, and *somehow* I was able to beat it. I still remember how out of my mind I was when I finished it for the first time. This game is part of me. Also, the story of how Éric Chahi made this game is amazing too, and is a lesson for inspiring game developers too: if the publisher ever tries to change the soundtrack of your game, send them an infinite loop of paper via fax.

This game was an incredible game, and it was a bit underrated, which is really unfortunate. For the time, it had a way of presenting a story that really was out of this world, and it was a childhood treasure I wont soon forget.

Watching one of the back couch falling asleep during the run was too funny. Still an awesome run. Haha

I love this game so much I played it for the first time 15 years after it came out after reading how much it influenced Hideo Kojima and Fumito Ueda, and it still is awesome. Great experiences definitely don't age :D

I played this game when i was about 8. I forgot it's name and have been looking for it, trying to remember what it was for about 20 years now. It's not so much that i care about the game, it just bothered me that i could not remember enough about the game to actually find it. And here it is, i wasn't even looking for it i just stumbled across this while watching AGDQ. took me about 5 minutes in to recognize that it indeed was that game i played as a kid. crazy.

Disappointed nobody mentioned Mike in the video. Awesome run though, nice job!

Every kid on my block tried to beat this game and gave up after a day or 2

Yeah I never made it to that rolling part when i played this game; I liked it but figuring out the gun was too much. As soon as I figured out how to bust open that first wall near the beginning my gun ran out of power and I died and stopped playing it. It was a fun few hours though.

Now to play a speed of the sequel "Heart of the alien". I miss the Sega CD version of this game. Honestly think the music tracks were better on the Sega CD.

ONLY 30 seconds or so? ONLY?! Never thought I would hear a speedrunner say that.

I loved this game so much as a kid.. I never beat it tho. I probably spend over 100 hours playing it but I always died or got stuck

I wanna see a fallout 3 speed run or maybe new Vegas. Either way I don't care though as long as AGDQ is doing a game and battling cancer.

Had this for SNES and I hated it. Hated the loading and it was sooooo slow :p "My So Va!" was the best line ever!

i had this game i and i liked it. IT was stupidly slow but thats ok cause the controls are wierd and it helps for it to move slower to give you more time to react.

There is a sequel for Sega, so the character hasn't died at the end. He is just beaten and exhausted.

never liked this game and don`t understand why there is so much atention to it, it just a good story, but gameplay is shittiest ever, even in dark souls its hard but you can figure it out what ot do not to get killed, but this shit it just stupid, and yeah about "good story", in ending he just stays in world of alien giants, what a great story...
