That second half performance was better than the City game for me. The pressure, the magnitude of the game, the fact we were away, arsenal with a full strength team, us with 4 first team players out (+ buendia & Mings), the fact we had two days less recovery time than Arsenal. To play that well. To reestablish control that we’d lost for the last few weeks to choose a game like that to regain our defensive solidity against a team that cannot stop scoring & hardly ever lose. Phenomenal!

Mate I erupted when Bailey popped that goal in and the away end was a sight to behold. He set us up perfect and sticking Moreno on in front of Digne was genius. Bailey pulled their midfield out of shape and McGinn’s positioning to receive the ball was top class. I really thought they’d hammer us with crosses given our frailties but they chose not to, Arteta had no plan B. What a season, we are the real deal.

Lets not only think about this game but the game management, psychological dominance and physical management of Emery over the last few. We've beat Lille without stepping on the gas. Then for all the talk about Spurs not having a plan B, we rocked up at Arsenal and implemented plan B in the 1st half. We tired them physically and mentally. We sucked the belief and confidence out of them and then went to plan A in the 2nd half. We've beat title challengers with basically 45 mins of intensity. We now go to Lille for a European 1/4 Final , likely with a full tank despite the smaller squad and injuries. And it all started with an acceptance of impossibility at City. This is why Unai is such a great manager. That level of management is as good as it gets. That's how hes won so many EL's and had Villa Real in the CL. Top class. Just hooe the players don't loose concentration against "weaker" opponents to come. Zaniolo seems to be more of a big fame player. He has to start against Lille for me. I haven't believed we'd keep him but really hope we do now.

Luke … I’m happy as a Pig 🐷 in … you know what ! 😂… I’m still saying to myself “ how DID we do that 🤷‍♂️” … but as your analysis shows … we are just a bloody good team with a Genius as a manager … so lucky and grateful to have him as our manager . One thing I have noticed over the season is our physicality… Zaniolo … big and strong and getting better ( I hope he stays ) 🙏… Rogers is a big lad too who doesn’t get brushed off the ball … everyone seems harder and fitter and stronger .. we are not being bullied of the park like we have done in the past . Add all that to being a good team skilfully and tactically n we are a force to be reckoned with when we are at are best . Just fantastic to see 👍

When Watkins said “we need to win every game now” after Brentford I didn’t think it was serious because I didn’t think we even could beat Arsenal. But we did it in STYLE. I’m honestly just so so proud of the lads and of my team. STATEMENT win. Still want Arsenal to win the league, hope city drop points somewhere, but this was phenomenal. I think the Arsenal win at the Emirates was our best all round performance all season - even better than the Man City result. We had to cope with so many injuries to key players, had 2 days less recovery time and were away from home. 10/10 for all players and Emery - tactical masterclass. Soaked up the pressure first half, kept the ball and had Arsenal chasing it + hit them hard in the 2nd half when they tired. Special mention to Carlos and Zaniolo who were both immense.

Nothing to do with the game but I wonder if Ollie will be working on penalties in the off season in order to get penalty duties back and boost his goal tally for the coming seasons. Listening to his chat with Wright and Owen he is 100% focused on his craft and improving himself. Getting his confidence back from the spot seems like a relatively simple way to do that. What a training partner he would have in Martinez as well. Whether Dougie lets him or not is another matter though 😁

@andy, love the enthusiasm mate but your numbers are well off. We have 63 points this season and only ended up with 61 last season in which Gerrard got about 12 of those. UTV!!

If Villa can continue to play like they did against Arsenal, not only will we get Champions league but the Conference League title will be coming our way too. Emery has to be the one of the best managers we have ever had. Although, I think had O'Neil been given the backing that emery has had, he would have taken Villa all the way. UTV
