I love these knot videos. Very wholesome lol. Dude it’s so important to know how to tie knots. I grew up with all kinds of projects where my dad taught me the basics of knots. Now I’m 14 yrs in the military and an aviator professionally but I boat in my free time and people are always impressed at my ability to quickly bust out the right knot at the right time. And even when you don’t have a knot in mind, if you know the basics, you can improvise. I have a boat in SF bay and find myself hosting all kinds of very successful people just by way of friendships along the way. I’m always hosting and making people comfortable and every now and then I bust out a knot to secure the boat or gear etc. and it leaves people so impressed. Our friend had a “going away” celebration and he thanked us for our friendship and commented that adventures with us were one of his best memories. And I remember I taught him to knots of the boating world at one point and that was probably his highlight of boating with us. Thanks for the video 🫡

Thank-you for your service! Sounds like you could have some pretty engaging maritime how-to videos of your own
Pick up line with both thumbs to the left (left hand palm up, right hand palm down). Rotate both wrists thumbs to the right. Left hand under of the right hand (knuckles now touching). Grab both top loops together with ledt hand with the right hand backing of the loop. It's a Clove Hitch ready to drop on a anchor. (Or "Thumbs to the left, thumbs to the right, left under the right". I came up with this trick while firefighting.)
Sir, I love your videos. Quick, simple and effective. I work in HVAC and these knots are perfect.

Love your content. Warm greetings from the Netherlands. Bert.
If you do another half hitch 6 inches or more above it you could pull that pipe straight up. Like if you wanted to pull a stick of pipe up to a third floor on a job site.
For 20 years as an assistant scoutmaster, I had taught that method to countless scouts. Great for competitions.
Nice
Thank you so much 🙏

Хороший узел, отец в детстве показал и сейчас на рыбалке пользуюсь.
Use this not all the time for lowering and pulling tools into trees. Great knot, so many uses

G'day mate, thankyou.
Nice one! Grazie :)

As a failed boy scout, I just could now wrap my head around tying knots. Unless it was a hangman's noose around my little sister's doll.
I definitely have knot dyslexia. Watching how easy makes me very anxious. Ha
Thank you!!
Cheers! 👍✌️🇬🇧
hey my patent is pending on that maneuver! nuff said!lol

I’ve tied thousands of clove hitches, including that way. Some people can only tie them like that. Others struggle with them every single time.
I was hoping that you were going to swing that line around that pole in a way that you could put your hand in as it's coming around and catch the working end and then just pull your hand back out and have a clove hitch😆. I like teaching it by turning the half hitches like you did and then also showing how turning one the other way makes a girth hitch. Knots are about holding the rope in ways that make sense while tying.
That's one the classic way to tie that knot, it's not a new way.
Only works if you have bar you can slide in onto of course.
Perfect
Now try making a clove hitch in a carabiner. One handed.
I love to learn, but some knots are so difficult and I hardly do them 💔 🙏🏼😭
Fucking amazing
GAME CHANGING
you can also use on dock cleat
I feel like that rod should have a lip on the top or that knot will just slide up and there goes your yacht.

Yep. Technical term is throwing a clove hitch.

Could you please include some other information, a small description of what a knot is best for, or where it should never be used?

Funny, I just read a whole article on knots, and why you should never use a clove hit h to tie off a boat.

Best knot to use there would be a rolling hitch
It's a nice knot, but if it's pulled too hard, it won't be able to untie, so you probably have to cut it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h2lnl7Gkj9yam7A.html

There are so many ways to lay or tie the clove hitch as there are names for it. It's as popular with sailors as with bushcrafters and climbers. You can do a better version called strangle knot or constriction knot that holds even better and is as fast as this one. No magic ...
What's the use of a clove hitch? I'm not educated on these matters lol 🤷♂️
