    Totally agree with you Jobby on the missed opportunity to add more dragon themed details, but this is definitely a really cool figure. Giving him scale details on the black areas and maybe more dragon like features in the face like whiskers and deer antlers instead of the gold horns would have looked amazing! The katana display, during peaceful times, is done correctly when you did it the second time, with the handles facing leftside of Date. This is because as most, if not all of samurai are right handed or taught to be right handed, this display makes it harder to quickly deploy the swords, signifying you have no intentions to harm any guests that may come to your home. But seeing as this is a mech for battle the first display method can also work. But I it is arguable it means you have no trust in the home base where the big robot is stored. But I'm not an expert as my knowledge comes secondhand from shogo n the mini katana channel. Great video as always Jobby, this was very entertaining and I always wanted you to review this guy ever since I found out of it Sniper rifles and katanas are good civ. The blue is kinda eh but at this scale it's not that bad Edit: minor grammar corrections. Historically samurai train to wield their katana with their right hands as equipping the katana fit for left handed use causes issues like hitting other samurai's sheathes or Saya. (To learn more about these you can check out Shogo's channel for other Japanese culture and history facts.)

I think (I could be wrong) that Date Masamune was the first daimyo to incorporate guns into his forces and tactics then use them in warfare, so that's why he's historically been depicted with a firearm of some sort, be it a pistol, musket, or a rifle.

    The "thumbs-up" hands are actually to hold the "Saya", which works when you want to display Date Masamune drawing the "Daisho" (translates to big-little, not joking, look it up) in an epic way, like Samurai uses their thumb to help by pressing the "Tsuba" (Japanese for hand-guard) before truly unsheathing the katana. Used quite a bit in different types of media, and it really does make for an epic display option of Iaijutsu, the art of the sword based quick-draw. (I don't have one of these figures, but I have seen how it is done so I know the concept)

    So I actually only learned about this recently, but the difference between a magazine and a clip is that a clip is essentially a stick of ammo, where all the bullets are pointed with the tip outwards, and the whole clip would move upwards to load the next round. (EDIT: This was initially incorrect. I confused a clip with a belt. It has since been fixed. Thank you to the people who let me know). A magazine is the box that feeds bullets in through a spring or some kind of internal mechanical function, so the thing in the video would be a magazine. Just wanted to make that clear, since I only just recently learned about it.

  • @silveret4564

    @silveret4564

    2 жыл бұрын

    sorta, the clip isn't a belt. that would just be a belt. belt fed firearms are typically incapable of receiving any sort of clips or magazines (with notable exceptions) a clip is just a small metal rod that holds rounds that you insert into the internal magazine of a firearm. think stripper clips on the M1 Garand or the clips with the Lee Enfield rifle. but you got what a magazine is right though.

    BUt AShuRaMAn, a clip doesn't always load a magazine, it's essentially a magazine without the spring: an ammo holder, in it's most simplest. Guns that use clips instead have an internal feeding mechanism such as an M1 Garand or Lee-Enfield.

    Okay, after some further research, (I think) the Hotchkiss model 1914 uses clips with no internal magazine, just an internal feeding system. 12:09 learned this from shogo but if the hilt was on the right it would be easier to grab and therefore a sign of fighting and aggression. Since it’s a time of peace and you want to be respectful to guests you have the hilt on the left to show nonaggression.

    11:52 actually... No, you're not wrong. The blade is placed upwards to avoid it's dulling. And the handle is placed at the left side if the landlord is not at war. Since in the lore of the comic so far they're actively at war, then placing the handles at the right, closer to the dominant hand, is culturally accurate.

    Looking at it closely they may have put the One Eyed Dragon nickname into the design, sharp and soft edge and shapes reminiscent of scales literally all over the body of the figure, and the fact it uses the sniper rifle which in pop-culture it commonly seen as a one eyed weapon and in the case of video games, there is always that one sniper rifle that resembles a dragon or has a dragon on it. The head camera is also more prominent than the eye's when the LEDs are off, it looks like one big eye because I'll be honest I was unsure if there were any eyes when I first saw it and wondered if the big orange thing was the eye. It also shares similar characteristics to reptiles being more linear and smoothed out yet rugged and plated like both a mech and an irl lizard, in comparison to Takeda Shingen which was meatier and muscular same as to a regular Tiger. It also looks like it can fly too.

    Date Masamune right there is more like a combined mish-mash design of Reborns Gundam from 00, Blitz Gundam from Gundam SEED and the arm shapey design gaves me a vibe to Sinanju's puffy arm design from UC. Given a name " Date Masamune " is quite amazing for a figure like this.

    Little quirk with the sniper rifle, there's a magazine release controlled by the buttstock. Extending it not only raises the scope but also locks the magazine in place while collapsing it disengages the magazine catch, making it drop out. Nice little detail there.
