My understanding is that a Bodega is a small, family owned, neighborhood shop in cities that sells groceries, hot/cold food, cigarettes, maybe liquor, candy etc. Many have been in neighborhoods for decades. The area of North Jersey where I grew up we had small Italian or German deli's, coffee shops, sweet shops, mom & pop shops etc. Depending on where you lived you could walk to these places on your way to or from school or grab breakfast/lunch during the workday. When I saw that clip of her I laughed, because if you grew up going to these shops you know your order! Even all these years later, no hesitation, depending on which shop! Breakfast...bacon, egg and cheese on a roll or bagel. Lunch...Italian hero, ham, genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, oil & vinegar (iykyk), different deli...potatoes & eggs on a roll, coffee w/cream & sugar, etc. Just typing that brings me back to some good times...late 60's through 90's. A "roll" back then referred to what we called a hard roll. Just a round, baked roll...crunchy on the outside...plain, poppy seeds or sesame seeds on top. Used for sandwiches, or just a buttered roll, dunked in hot coffee (my father did that). Anyway, that's your "boomer" trip down "food memory" lane, or maybe the block! 🤣🤣🤣

A bodega is where you go. Get your good sandwiches but they also may have sausages pork chops like a good corner store up north and I get a turkey and cheese loaded in the sandwich is supposed to be wet. I don't know nothing about an orange soda but some plain chips will do
My bodega order is usually hot salami lettuce tomato onion mayo salt pepper vinegar on a toasted sesame bagel OR roll …. Or if I’m not getting that then a chop cheese
