    A quick way is to narrow your grip and try to punch your armpit into the pit. Give that a shot

    Hey Shawn, great invert help! I have been having that problem, I used to better at it bit now it's getting worse. I sometimes pull off of takeoff, but now I'm doing better at that but flag off like you say in your video. How do I find that middle ground without pulling off of takeoff to early again

    I've been pole vaulting for about 2 years now and I've been using a 120, 11ft pole my average is about 8'3-8'6 and I have a hard some with the drive with your hand to your foot in the air, instead of driving my hand to foot I usually pull up like a pull up bar, I was wondering if you had any tips to break this habit (btw I made it to state in 8th grade track and field on Friday so a quick response would be amazing)

    Can you suggest a drill to get vaulter to pull left hand to chin on a flexed pole? No problem on a straight pole jump....as soon as vaulters move to a flex pole jump the axis of the earth shifts and that left arm locks out the invert

  • @TeamHootPoleVault

    @TeamHootPoleVault

    7 жыл бұрын

    in all honestly, just after the initial throw of the arms, the movement is the same as a straight pole drill. Sounds like they already know how to do it, its just a timing thing now!

    Hey man, I was just wondering how to invert relative to a bend, because I know I get a pretty decent bend and by around the time my feet get up the pole is about to roll to the side, making the pole perpendicular to my body, making rowing seem more relevant, is this alright in your opinion?

  • @TeamHootPoleVault

    @TeamHootPoleVault

    7 жыл бұрын

    The pole needs to roll out to the left if you're a right handed pole vaulter. Then the pole would end up across your legs and i think it will make more sense for ya!

  • @TeamHootPoleVault

    @TeamHootPoleVault

    Haha great questions. Instead of putting your hand between your legs try putting it on your quad. You'll still get past vertical since the pole is bent but you'll keep your family plan

    I'm 142 pounds and I'm jumping on a 13'6 145 but I'm gripping down like a Foot because I completely over bend the pole and get no return and the next pole we have is a 150 14' and I keep getting slamned and rejected by it and can't get into the pit any suggestions?

  • @cedricjonesjr3955

    Like he has said in past video if you are going up a pole then go back another left and get more energy in the pole. That isn't a bad jump in pole, but just make sure you work on form and putting more energy into the pole.

  • @TeamHootPoleVault

    @TeamHootPoleVault

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hey stranger! You can always send a video over and i can see whats going on Team-hoot.comn/gear. If the pole is bending too much and you're not getting in the pit then go down in grip. If its bending a lot and you''re going deep in the pit then go up that pole. If that 150 is a little too big just like cedric said, try going back a left to get a little more speed or drop a left and stay on that 13'6
