Another Day At Camp - Day Two Camping in The Heart of Nature & Walk Around Beautiful Baconsthorpe.

Day two of our camping at Castle Wild Camp and what a beautiful day we woke up to!! The sun was shining and the birds, once again, were in full singing voice... a glorious day in the heart of nature! We both tried out the eco showers, which I was a bit sceptical about whether they would, 1...be powerful enough and, 2...be enough water in one bucket to enjoy the shower without rushing in fear of water running out! Well, I can confirm that I was very pleasantly surprised! The water was lovely and warm and forceful enough to have a good shower - one bucket is plenty! I did however, use a second bucket only because I washed my hair which is quite long. I also was a bit unsure of the privacy aspect but no need to worry, I felt very enclosed and safe. After our long, very warm walk, the shower was just what was needed. There are two showers to choose from, one is open above and the other is covered with see through sheeting (so you still get that showering outdoor feeling). The compostable loos are checked (as are the showers) regularly throughout the day, so are very clean.
With it being such a beautiful day, we went for a walk to the Castle and beyond - there is a map with the route to follow (we, as usual, went off route and made our own circular walk). We were lucky to be at the right time of the year that the Rapeseed fields were in full flower (maybe not so for hayfever sufferers) and the views were amazing. On the route, there is an area in the woodlands where beavers have been introduced - we didn't see them but you can see signs of their existence.
We had another evening at camp where wildlife was present - bats flying over the tent, deers in the fields and owls calling throughout the night. If you prefer your camp sites to offer you some privacy and seclusion where you can just sit back and enjoy nature, this is one to give a go! The owners (or staff) of the site are always around so any problems, or if you just want to find out more about the project and wildlife around you, they are there on hand.
This is one site that we will visit again - we might even try the old American school bus or the secluded hideaway that are also available on the site.
I really hope you have enjoyed watching this video. Please do give me a thumbs up, drop me a comment or question (I will always reply), and please consider subscribing, all of which would be very much appreciated. Please do check out my other videos of walks in and around Norfolk and Suffolk, not forgetting our holiday adventures in the Uk.
Thanks for watching, and for your support of my channel, Jenny x

Hello jenny , the bucket shower is something I have done many times during my days in the RAF , when I was detached to the Falkland islands for 6 month in the early 1980s , real field conditions , but it was good to be able to use your basic skills out there . The camp you are at seems very rustic. Looking good Jenny , think I am up to date with you. Cheers Jeff

Hi Jeff, it's such an ingenious idea, isn't it! I'm glad it was hot water and not cold 😂 It's a brilliant camp site, we prefer the wilder more secluded ones! Thanks Jeff 😊

Superb Jenny. A full happy view end to end. There wasn't a dull moment there - eco showers, loos and trails to explore in fine weather makes for chilled out campers. A lovely little glade but as you said could have done with a bit more setting sun. Still, the breakfasts and early morning deer calls were splendid too. All the best. Mark

Thanks Mark. It was such a beautiful place to just get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It was just so lovely to be surrounded by nature and wildlife, and to be able to explore it. We had one encounter with a stunning stag that wandered out onto the path we were following - we stood for just for a minute or two watching him decide what to do before he bounded off into the woodland barking, it was such a beautiful moment! I'm not a fan of being in the kichen and cooking is my least favorite activity, but when camping I love doing it and always insist on doing a good fry up for breakfast! Thanks for your continued support Mark... take care, Jenny 😊

@@bumblejennybee88 A pleasure Jenny. Hey, a good time away and awesome nature moments. That stag must have been something. Re-the cooking it always tastes and hey feels better cooking outside. As for the support - I like sweet souls Jenny that's what matters to me. Peace.

I'm finally getting an evening to watch some videos. Those fields will be great when the growth comes in. I realized I need to gear up some sort of bucket shower after my last trip.of six days, instead of a sponge bath on the back of the tailgate of the truck lol. Breakfast looked delicious It's great just to take in the heat of the sun and a walk in those lovely fields. Nice when it cools in the evening for sleeping overnight, I don't like it warm overnight lol. Hope you guys have an awesome week.

@tuckerandi hi! Yes, I really want to see it next year when they've all self seeded, and they've also planted some perennials! Hopefully, it will help increase all bugs and insects as well as the pollinators, as they're becoming fewer and fewer! I remember as a child when the car windscreen would've been peppered with splattered bugs... no longer the case! That bucket shower was great!! Very refreshing after a hot, sunny walk! It was a perfect weekend getaway! Take care, Jenny 😊
