I figured they were just blowing off steam, taking advantage of the fact that everyone was afraid to acknowledge their existence, and I was amused at how suddenly upbeat Misaki was to have a friend she could hang out with and talk to without the persecution of their peers...oh wait nevermind he's just crushing on her. This scene totally took me off guard. It was sudden. It was unexpected. It was random. It was hilarious. I see nothing wrong with a little comic relief in a supernatural mystery horror. Quit complaining about it "ruining the show", people.

Unironically one of the cutest scenes I've seen in anime

For a little bit of context, the scene involves a classroom exercise in which everyone is supposed to sit there, quietly. Not only are Misaki and Sakakibara blatantly violating the rule, they're essentially daring their classmates not to notice them.

When you still manage to embarass yourself even though they treat you non existent 😂

Lol i remember this i was confused for half a second coz i think he'd scream at the teacher then burst out laughing. It's just unfair how they didn't end up together -_-

This scene was such a Quentin Tarantino thing to do. Just have a hilarious non-sequiteur in the middle of all the gore, despair and loneliness. I'm really glad they did this. And it helps that they make such a cute couple.

1000kylestar Hmm, actually, she's a lot less serious than it often seems. In the OVA, prior to Misaki's death, you can clearly see she laughs a lot and has a girly side. And she actually seems to have sort of a mean humor at times - remember how she intentionally scared the naive Sakakibara a little about what's under her eye patch? ;D

1000kylestar Yeah. That's what I think is likable about her - she is serious when it's time to be serious, and she's smart... but she also has a mean humor and she likes to laugh. She's not one-dimensional, that's why I like her; I only wish the Anime would have been a bit longer so it could have shown us more of that. But at least we got the OVA for that.
