Your are right about making your bike look old and unappealing as the best solution to deter thieves. I have been telling my friends this for many years. I have a Mt. Ebike( too old and unfit to make it up hills anymore) that i never wash , but keep my gears and chain oiled . It looks really messy but is in perfect mechanical condition. No one even looks at my bike.

I wish you happy new year. I was very surprised that the person who cycle as often as you has bike from supermarket, usually people have some personal attach to it. It is very good motivation for people who says that they do not have money to buy a bike, even cheap bike can serve to his owner very good as we can see in Lisbon....

A most humble and modest bike. But that seat stay is the most unusual one I have ever seen. I thought it was part of the bike rack, until I noticed the welds. Its almost as if the bike was fashioned in someone's backyard. This is not a put-down, but just the sensation when viewing the bike. Thank you for the street scene. It provides a pretty strong contrast to cycling in London, and even compared to New York, it has more of that bike-conscious Netherlands feel, where vehicles and pedestrians more or less flow with the cyclist, as opposed to resisting him. Thank you.

In New Zealand it is legal for skateboarders to ride on the road amongst traffic although they must obey road rules. Helmets are not needed. Brakes are not needed. Lights at night are not needed. Crazy!

Don't show your face! I just wanna see you as your forearms and your handlebar haha. It's cool that way. Feliz año nuevo!

They should. Some of our bike lanes have the symbol (bikes only) but still..

Happy new year! 2:37 Option 2, and a little of 3. 8 years is a lot! My old bycicle is with my brother, and it has 7 years. My another bike was stolen with 2 years, and I had to buy another (used) one. I hope I can stay with it for a long time! I liked the stickers, I think I'll start to put some in my bike! (I don't like the blue/white that came with it) =D

Skates podem circular na ciclovia. Aliás, eles são obrigados a andar na ciclovia quando ela existe! Só é pena que frequentemente se ponham a brincar e não se apercebem que é uma via de circulação que estão a obstruir... fora isso, é um meio de mobilidade suave perfeitamente legítimo.

Sometimes I think you're too patient! XD On a serious tone though, it's ridiculous how lawmakers made it possible for skaters to go on cycling lanes, they use them like they own them, and most of them, if not all, have no respect for others, especially cyclists. Anyways, *have a Very Happy New Year* ! May 2018 bring you great things, among others, more cycling lanes clear of pedestrians and less disrespectful skaters! ;D

hue I'm saying that skaters who don't know how to share a space, which they can exceptionally use, and that have no respect for others have gardens, skate parks (imagine that!) and (guess what) the sidewalk to do their shenanigans on, since they're considered by law as pedestrians (go figure). Oh btw, not a cyclist, but even if I was that wasn't even a mildly provocative bait mate... ;)

I can also identify some public spaces where skaters can do whatever they want. They are commonly refered as "skate spots". But skateboarding is also about going for a nice cruise and it can also be seen as a way of transportation, especially when you consider longboards and other similar boards. I agree that the fellas in this video weren't acting very respectfully. The problem here is their attitude, not the fact that they are riding skateboards. I assume that when 2 cyclists are riding those narrow lanes, it also may be difficult to overtake, creating some sort of congestion. The reason why skateboarders the cyclist lanes is (at least for myself) because we don't have much of a choice, the sidewalks aren't smooth enough, most of the time, and riding along side cars is very dangerous, since skateboards are much slower than a car and much less stable than a bycicle.

hue I understand where you're coming from and agree with you. I have to say though, if you want to get a point across do it in a non provocative way, people will actually listen (even if they disagree) and not immediately shut you down. My point, as you can clearly read in my original comment, was those skaters' disrespect and disregard for everyone else, on the cycling lane and sidewalk. I didn't even generalize, I said *most of them* act like that because it's actually what happens, usually that's also on account of most skaters being teenagers, but a few exceptions are actually respectful. Our Highway Code exceptionally allows skaters on cycling lanes, even though it equates them to pedestrians, nonetheless they should respect both the road markings and the other users on the cycling lanes. To be honest, I couldn't care less what you're using as a means of transportation, just do it respecting the law and others, which was what these guys in the video weren't doing, as you acknowledged.

Eu pus "irritantes" pois eles estão no meio da ciclovia, não escolhem um lado. É irritante do ponto de vista de alguém que quer ultrapassá-los. Btw, eu detesto ter de escolher títulos para os meus vídeos.

Sim até porque são os "únicos" que estão a ocupar a ciclovia. Sinceramente sharing is caring, e tudo o que tenha rodas e não tenha um motor a meu ver tem o seu direito de estar na ciclovia. Ando de skate e curto de usar a ciclovia de forma relaxada, também tocas-te a campainha, e é normal que com o barulho dos rolamentos eles não te ouviram.
