Over 15 years ago, I got in an online argument about Jeff Waters. A local "writer/metal music critic" said that Waters was not a good lead guitarist, that he was just a decent rhythm player. Clearly this guy never played guitar. Jeff Waters is a master. Great cover by the way!

Jeff waters’ lead guitar is better than most other top of the bill lead players. He has pretty complicated but very melodic phrases in his solos. The guy obviously doesn’t know shit about guitar

@@elmershiflett8154 ...GEE THANKS CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, I already knew it was difficult because even before I saw this transcription I was already quite aware of there being a few tempo changes (which in and of themselves present a challenge) because you can feel a few of them by just listening to the song and how the rithmatic feel changes what I was not aware of though was just how many there actually are.

One of the most professional covers I've seen on KZread, fantastic job! The playing and the editing are so cleanly executed!

Damn I should probably get more into Annihilator. Jeff Waters is a fucking genius. That man masterfully crafted two equally tasteful riffs into one song, those being the verse and chorus riffs. Then he wrote and performed a solo worthy of giving the other master of tasty thrash solos, Marty Friedman, a run for his money. THEN, because he wasn't done, he added multiple clean parts and interludes with harmonies, also recording everything other than the drums and lead vocals (but writing everything of course). This song in itself should earn Waters a spot in all discussions about great metal musicians. And credits to you for transcribing the whole song with easy to follow tabs along with a high-quality video to see your picking patterns and fingerings as well.

Annihilator is not really a very good band. Waters is incredible and writes awesome songs. It just doesn't come together as more than the sum of its parts, the way more successful bands do.
