he writer/lead singer, Ivan Doroschuk, has explained that "The Safety Dance" is a protest against bouncers prohibiting dancers from pogoing to 1980s new wave music in clubs when disco was dying and new wave was up and coming. ... Thus, the song is a protest and a call for freedom of expression. Original meaning of the song.

This reminded me of another compilation i watched: WALK THE MOON - Shut Up and Dance (Movie dance compilation),with movies back in the 60-70s up to recent movies even. And The lady who edited and clipped it all together, had her comment section bursting with praising words, that she made one of the best compilations they had ever seen, and it came from people knowing what it felt like to sit for hours and hours, searching for the perfect beats that would fit the most with the dances. Another classic song too "Shut Up And Dance(With Me)". Theese do put a smile on your face. Needed in times like theese,we all looked forward to a new decade.......then 2020 happened. Cheers! (Annie stopped with her cheerleading? Aaaww....well then she must be a dancer at heart lol)

I was 13 years old when my dad took me for the first time to a club (in 1984 people called it a discotheque) My virgin young ears didn't know what hit them, so loud and clear, the lights, the atmosphere... When we entered the club, this song was just played by the dj, the other record was from Fad Gadget - Coitus Interruptus and Ladyshave. It was quite an experience and my love for synthesizers and electronic music was born!

when you mentioned that drummer that's been playing drums since he was 6 that you want to do on your channel reminded me that I would love to see you and Annie react to Tina S. She's an incredible guitar player that has been playing guitar since she was 6. Any of her videos would be great...but I think the best is her playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata... if you want to be truly blown away by some real talent. I think she's 17 in the video where she does play Moonlight Sonata, but there are many videos of her at even younger ages and she is amazing in all of them!

Got to see her with Missing Persons back in 1998 at a small club with a handful of people there but one of the best experiences! Dale Bozzio stayed behind afterward and signed posters and other merch.

You should have her react to the actual video! That has dancing in it too.

One of my favorite songs from the new wave era back in the early 80s. Have you and Annie done “I Ran” from A flock of seagulls?

You could always take a look at The Misfits- Last Caress. Pretty sure it's a fan made video on here, but the dancing fits the overall speed of the song, or Bella Morte's cover of "Earth Angel" which is just an amusing video in it's own right.
