Those blue and red lines are called color separation lines, and I've seen them in western animation drawings too.

Is this method only for frame by frame? I was intending to use it for a project I'm working on that isn't frame by frame... My first thought was to use an envelope deformer on the shadow layer. Do you think that would work?? Any help very much appreciated!

I have a question, do you need to use the shade line guide (the red and blue line guide) in order to make shadows in ToonBoom Harmony? Thank you fo reading my question.

I have a question, I have done the steps with the blue-red lines, tinted the palettes, used the Create Colour Art From Lineart button and went to the color layer to pop in the colors. But when I switched between the palettes to pick different shade of colors for let’s say the skin, the program kept filling the different areas with the same skin color, not the shadow-tinted color I picked up. I’m not sure if it’s clear what I’m saying, so for example: I’ve picked the base color for the middle of the face, then went to the shadow palette and picked the shadow color for the separated area, but the program filled it w the base color. Ideas what’s happening?

  • @ZeBirdBrain

that's a possibility! certainly ! But you still need Colour Overrides to identify the lines !

This is not how to do it dum dum you have to shade with only black color then lowr opacity of that black and it will work perfect with any thing

  • @ZeBirdBrain

At first I thought this comment was a joke, but I feel you are actually saying I'm dumb and that w should shade with pure black. omg. I would appreciate you not calling anyone a dum dum, especially not on my channel. And as for black shading? Yes. When you are an 8 years old kid trying to learn digital art and using black + multiply, have fun with your black shading. But shading with pure black often makes things soulless and dull. yokoboo.tumblr.com/post/138358905112/shading-colour-tips Lighting is more complex than just putting a black layer. Colour has meaning, reflection and atmosphere. But if you want to shade stuff like a 8-year-old, be my guess and no one will stop you! I'm just trying to help people have more options to create their art :)
