@@lemoncholy No thank YOU for this beauty of a video xD but for real you are probably one of the best things I've seen come out of the art-world of youtube! And if you must know, you have the privilege to be the first person I've felt the need to comment on (I've done it twice now, what's happening to me??) Anyways, uhhh, have a nice day!
May I ask how you make your drawings look like they're dancing and alive? Not just on this one, but when I look at your other artworks (especially your character design of song of achilles, that's my favourite) I feel like everything is moving even if it's just an illustration.

This is a great question but also one that's difficult to answer. Here are a few notes: - I find that doing 1-3 min gesture drawings help me loosen up, in addition to studying models in motion (usually from video/photo references but sometimes in real life). If I don't feel like life drawing, sometimes I'll break down / trace drawings from artists I admire for practice, to help me observe all the decisions they're making. - Focusing on silhouette and contour (as opposed to volume). Contour drawing is a little unpredictable, but it's this approach that helps me create more interesting drawings. It can also help you focus on design, rather than getting bogged down with all the complexities of human anatomy. - Understanding the mechanics of contrapposto - Drawing a line of action through my characters helps me focus the movement in their poses. (@Mofe Dawodu I think this may be what you're referring to?) - Focusing on line quality (thick vs. thin, straight vs. curved, concave vs. convex) - You might also want to try listening to emotionally intense music or acting out your poses out before you draw them - anything to get you in the mood.

@@lemoncholy omg thank you for answering, I was actually tracing one of your drawing just now, trying to figure out how you do your lines haha. I'm just gonna screenshot your reply so I can look back into it in case I forget. I hope you make a tutorial about this one day though, everybody would love that (I would!). Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Oh, I’m so glad this was recommended to me!! As a student who’s studied Film Studies and who has _just_ finished my (undergrad) thesis on Chinese animation and the history of Chinese animation, the more painterly style of art you showed really reminded me of Chinese ink-wash animation! The aesthetics of such minimalistic art is really cool. Very reminiscent of the philosophy behind ink-wash paintings: to capture the feeling of something, rather than the real look of something. For anyone curious about animation history and stuff, the examples of ink-wash animation I can think of are: Little Tadpoles Look for Mama: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eZapt8ybhtjXgdo.html The Herd Boy’s Flute: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmehupKfhs6soLA.html Feelings from Mountain and Water: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hX-t25pyk9TOkag.html Ink-wash didn’t become a dominant style of animation within China for various reasons, despite their biggest advocate, Te Wei, really pushing for it initially as a uniquely Chinese animation style, but it’s also been cool seeing it kind of return with new animations such as _Fog Hill of Five Elements:_ kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXaEy8ekocTMiZc.html Sorry to suddenly barge in here and dump all this ahaha. I just got really excited by the connections that can be drawn with animation! But it’s just also really cool watching your process and exploration of a new animation style. The end result looks stunning!

No worries at all, this is wonderful! I took guo hua lessons when I visited China a few years back and that style has since influenced my art. As an animation student, the philosophy behind it resonated with me (which as you say, emphasized a stronger focus on impression than accurate representation). I'm unfamiliar with animation in China, so thank you for sharing resources!
Your voice is so nice, it reminds me almost of Siri in that it’s basically designed to be pleasant to listen to :D great animation and video too!

I honestly was completely oblivious to the fact that Clip Studio Paint had an animation suite in it until I stumbled across your video while looking into how to use CSP better as a newcomer to digital art and my god, you've opened my eyes to some wonderful future projects I can work on now! Also I have to say seeing some of your other content your style is simply beautiful and to me bridges the borders between classical art and modern in a very wholesome and aesthetic way.
holy moly, I'm absolutely blown away from your animation! AMAZINGGGG! I can't begin to describe my first impressions of this channel. Just so... INCREDIBLE! Very nice job
I literally could watch your videos for hours. It’s all so well made and the way you’re thinking through every little detail just blows my mind. How is it possible to learn so much from a 9min video?
This was just generous. Real quality content
your videos are always SO well edited and visually beautiful. This was such a joy to see, I always love watching how artists bring the process of their creations and this was so well done! Thank you for making them available for everyone, im a big fan of your art and videos

Aaa, glad you think so! I'm actually taking a leave of absence from college this year, but trying to find a balance between personal stuff and work has still been rough. I let myself get acquainted with the software for a week (made those sketches you see in the brush section). Gotta say, once you get over the learning curve of one software, picking up new software gets easier every time.
This is so detailed and thorough, how you always explain the thought process and technical aspects is very insightful. Love to see your work and the process
I really needed this. A while back, I had a creative assignment and I decided to make a gif. I feel more comfortable doing digital paintings and finish them more quickly, so naturally I painted. I fucked up the humans but the rhino I drew looked cool
This is gorgeous in every way! Not only your chosen style of illustration and animation but the choice of styling the video clip sections and your narration, music selection, honestly 10/10!
I feel like it's Christmas every time you upload, I love how much insight you always give about your process, I've learned so so much! Thank you so much for doing such high quality content

Really appreciate the putting of the content list on the side so that we can track the animation process, It was so easy to follow along with the lesson. It's very easy to learn when you can see what has passed and what is yet to come. The layout and composition of the shots as well as the Typography rules color and contrast I'm seeing is mind blowing. Learnt a lot from everything this video has to offer. Simply amazing!
