Animals and The Kingdom of God - Bruce Friedrich

Bruce Friedrich presents the 9th annual Animals and the Kingdom of God lecture, "The Kingdom of God is Within You: Diet as an Invocation of Christ." Friedrich is executive director of The Good Food Institute.
In “The Kingdom of God is Within You: Diet as an Invocation of Christ,” Bruce Friedrich explains his reasons for believing that a plant-based diet best aligns with Biblical principles of stewardship of the earth, concern for the poor, treating our bodies as temples and compassion for animals. By making our dining decisions from a commitment to seek God's Kingdom in all four of these areas, Friedrich argues, we can take steps toward eating in a way that serves as an invocation of Christ and that follows-at every meal-St. Paul’s counsel to “pray without ceasing.”
Bruce Friedrich is executive director of The Good Food Institute (GFI), a nonprofit organization that promotes plant and culture-based alternatives to animal agriculture, and founding partner of New Crop Capital (NCC), a venture capital firm that provides angel, seed, and Series A funding to companies that are producing plant-based and cultured alternatives to meat, dairy, and eggs, as well to tech startups that are focused on promoting alternatives to animal agriculture.
Before getting interested in animal protection, Bruce ran a homeless shelter and soup kitchen in inner city Washington, D.C., for 6 years. He has been a progressive activist for more than 25 years.
Bruce graduated manga cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the Georgetown University Law Center and Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell College. He also holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

We are also including a link to this presentation in a new resource guided intended to help the "kitchen crew" of church congregations plan and provide vegan food options at congregational gatherings. We realize that many of those volunteers don't know the difference between vegetarian and vegan, and need a helpful guide for planning veg options that are the most inclusive for the largest group of people. This guide should be available in May 2016, and I'll post a link to it when it's ready. It is our hope that it will assist many congregations in opening a heartfelt dialogue about the connection between our dietary choices and our spiritual practice and beliefs.

The Garden of Eden was vegan because that is what God wanted. With original sin we were given free will to do as we pleased. You might say that eating meat, dairy, eggs and seafood is eating in sin, which it really is. To really be one with God is to be vegan. Thank you Bruce. Everyone should watch this video.

sorry but i'm building my own farm and hard to live in the Land of Milk & Honey without eating the cow and some eggs don't really like how you dress your religion veganism up in Christian doctrine God gave us these things to eat and even the Bible tells us that it's fine but using the Bible to misdirect people isn't cool brother I agree with using mercy when eating these animals but Jesus fed the multitude with 2 fish and a loaf of bread

Sorry, but I am living a vegan life and find it hard to live in the land of cruelty involving imprisoning cows in small spaces without sun and fresh air ---- abusing chicks for eggs ---- I dont really like how you dress your economic ideas into the religion of cruelty for God's creatures ----- God gave us plants to eat (Genesis 1-29) and it was only a concession later on after Noah that we may eat meat ---- Using Bible is to direct people and remind them of God's mercy and of God's instructions to be good stewards of this Earth. THERE IS NO MERCY IN FARMING PRACTICES!

You are misguided "brother" God doesnt care what you "like" only the truth matters Isaiah 11:6-9 Genesis 1:29-30 Revelation 2:7 Revelation 22:1-14 It starts in Genesis and ends in Revelation God is bringing Eden back and you will not be ready for it with your existing state of mind
