As a former ferret owner definitely agree, also the stink is just normal. Ferrets have a gland that makes that stink and is just the normal part of being an adult ferret, so you can at least attributed the fact that they smelled bad was not something for lack of Care by the previous owner. You can wash them, and they make shampoos for Barrett and it helps alleviate the smell, but they will still be kind of stinky

There is another dimension where Sloths have super intellect and rule the world with psychic powers and robots with lasers. In that dimension they sit on anti gravity floating chairs and watch videos of the sloths from our dimension. "Ha those things are garbage... Glad we aren't like them." They say. And then off they are on their next adventure. To fly to their equivalent of a fast food place and order a spicy human sandwich. Who knows what else the Sloths in Sloth world get up to. :D

So, fun fact about the sloths: The reason they evolved such a low metabolism is because most predators are evolved to see and track movement from prey. Sloths move so slowly that no currently living predators see them as prey, and thus they don't really have any natural predators. Another benefit of the low metabolism that is no longer important is that it let prehistoric sloths dive underwater for long periods of time. Since they use oxygen more slowly than other creatures, they also don't need to breathe as much. This is how sloth skeletons can be found on many Atlantic islands like Cuba - they swam there from South America.

While the stillness does make them harder for predators to notice, they absolutely still have natural predators. Jaguars and harpy eagles will hunt adults in trees, plenty of birds of prey and smaller wild cats will hunt young or otherwise vulnerable sloths, and if they fall out of their tree into water, caiman and anaconda will eat them.
