Trying to draw my cat of 13 years, I rescued her for my 11th birthday, she passed exactly a week before my 24th. I already do portraits of people but I underestimated the fur, thank you for these tips, hopefully I can do her justice now

I’ve been avoiding to do a portrait of my dog for a few years because I had no experience painting pets. Sadly she passed away recently and that finally make me to paint her… turned out quite well,no idea why I was so scared to do this 😅
I absolutely love that you put so much info into a short tutorial AND you used native Procreate brushes! Thank you 😊

you made this so easy, thank you!! i’ve been struggling with fur in digital art. this sucks because i draw/paint pets and monkeys. the whole “fur” thing is kinda important! using the smudge tool and drag- i want to hit myself 😮. so easy 🙏🙏 thank you!!

Heeeey. New subscriber. Just wanted to say you are crazy good and using the brushes that come with the program is awesome. Always get a sales pitch when I watch others. I can’t do what I do without buying this set of brushes I made, nonsense. I know we all have to make money but come on.

This actually helped a lot! Do you have any tips on how to work with brindled fur colors?
@dunedigitaldesigns
Жыл бұрын
I would do the same more or less. But maybe try copying a brush, adjusting the colour jitter. Then every other stroke would be different colour. When you open the colour settings, on top there are two colours. If you adjust the brush settings properly, you should be able to paint with those two colours. I hope I make sense 😄

That was awesome I have a question tho I’m looking to draw 2 kelpies I haven’t drawn dogs digitally yet and there dark dogs like ones a female Black and Tan kelpie and the others a male red kelpie do I do same process?
@dunedigitaldesigns

Sure, you can apply the same method 🙂
Very cool, i learned a few things! Just one question ( I dont use clip studio paint, so i dont know if the opacity resets or something), at 3:25 where you start begin to use a pen, still a low opacity, or is it higher?
@dunedigitaldesigns
Жыл бұрын
The opacity is below 50% at that point. I reduced it because otherwise the brush effect would be too strong. I didn’t want straight, rough lines, but soft, more controllable lines to build layers. 😊
I need that short hair brush

What canvas size do you use? 🥺 I always struggle to get the image to be good quality and resolution 🙏
@dunedigitaldesigns

For this video I used the “Screen size” option which on my iPad Pro is 1668x2388px. For printing a pet portrait I’ve used 13x16 inches size. It came out wonderful. It’s important to know the maximum size you’ll need your artwork to be prior to drawing. And always set at least 300dpi.
How come whenever I do the color match from a reference photo, my colors always turn out darker when I paint? It’s never the same as in the reference.
@dunedigitaldesigns
Жыл бұрын
Maybe you are using CMYK color profile? If not, try to do a little test. Split your canvas into 2 parts - one white, one black background. Pick the color from your reference and paint a little of it on both sides. You’ll notice how the color looks a lot lighter on the black background. Also pictures have a lot more pixels. If we pick a single color and paint it will look much different. We simply cannot paint all the detail, every pixel as is in the photo. In my video the ear is also darker, bolder than my reference. I hope this helps 🤗
I'm so confused, I followed along perfectly until the studio pen and mine does not look like yours at all. It comes out as two faded lines instead of one sharp point? And I had the opacity the same but you can barely see it
@dunedigitaldesigns

You could try opening the brush settings and clicking the very bottom option “about this brush”. There’s an option to “reset all settings”. Maybe something was changed and altered the brush look.

Thanks for replying.. I tried that but it's still not working. Are you using it on the pen setting or clicking the studio pen and then clicking the smudge finger tool thing at the top? I'm very new to procreate

This is great for beginners and amateurs but real artists use other brushes
@dunedigitaldesigns
9 ай бұрын
I think I disagree with this, because in real life art (no digital) pro artists also can use just the basic stuff and create marvellous artwork. Real artists can use whatever to create! 😌

Sadly you're not a real artist otherwise you'd know that it's skill that matter, any brush can be used to create anything as long as you know what you're doing. Keep your toxic self far away from the internet, K?
