Born in Hungary, Anna Maria Benkö (1951-1973) fled to Austria with her family as a little girl during the revolution and became a well-known Austrian singer.
The name Anikó is the Hungarian pet name for Anna Maria.
She sang everything from musicals to English pop. In the talent show "Show-Chance", she came 3rd in 1971 with her song "Das Glück mit dir". She competed for Austria at the "Coupe d'Europe Musicale" in Belgrade and also represented Austria at festivals in Athens and Ostend.
Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany.
