"How did you know you'd be bulletproof?" "I didn't ... I just knew that you weren't." There it is. That's Superman. The show may not be perfect in every regard, but they got Superman right. Looking forward to where they go from here.

You exactly right. Because Superman is not just a good guy he’s the embodiment of a selfless person. Who lives to help others. You can’t buy him, you can’t sway him into committing horrid deeds. Though he’s kryptonian, He’s the Best of humanity has to offer. Pure class act. And that’s something you can’t teach.
This series was everything Superman is. Light, colourful, and HOPEFUL.

Honestly, sometimes we just need a break from the dark brooding DC and go back to the old roots of Superman. Just a guy who wants to help people and make the world better. It’s the Superman that Christopher Reeves brought us and that awesome 90s animated series.

What sold me was Libby has two mommies. Perry white is black Jimmy Olson is black. Perfect show for people who are morally bankrupt and who do not understand good writing. Like this guys channel. For any fictional show to be good it must be grounded in reality. Superman for years has always been a beacon of decency (truth justice and the American way). So when every top executive in a show is not a white male it doesn’t reflect reality. These writers are just abandoning their largest audience to pander to 5% of the population. We don’t want homosexuals and lesbians in these shows. We don’t to mixed ethnic couples and we don’t want writers changing these characters genders or ethnicity. The show sucks.

Yeah, I think we've gone too far off the cynic edge, forgetting or disbelieving the concept that somewhere out there, someone is actually a good person. Helping people just because it's a nice thing to do. A hero who became a hero simply because it's the right thing to do. No dead parents, no sad backstory at all, a hero who is just a good person. The only incentive they ever need is because it's nice.

Finally we get a Superman that shows the world why he is so timeless.
On a more serious note, the one thing that this show has done that I have *never* seen an adaptation do before is make Jimmy an actual part of the story. It actually remembers that Jimmy Olsen is "Superman's Pal" and not just "Clark Kent's Co-Worker". (Supergirl technically gave Jimmy this kind of characterization but that was the character's backstory rather than anything directly shown onscreen).
@Winter-The-Masquerade

Still kinda odd how all the characters who were red heads had their hair color changed. I mean Jimmy and Vickie Vale are both gingers in the comics but not here. It's weird.

It also makes you go back at some details from previous episodes when he learn that Jimmy knew Clark was Superman. One example is that he purposefully took those blurry photos during episode 1 to help protect Clark's identity.

Throughout watching this series, my feelings have only been confirmed: it's absolute comfort food. Not everything works out. Some of that is in the rushed pacing, others in the villains not being a strong aspect. But it's more than made up for by the core dynamic, animation, side characters, and voice acting. This is my favorite Superman thing since the 90's animated series. On my own personal chart, I also considered this an 8/10 series: I like it a lot and think it has great potential to grow with more time to really breathe.

@iisanulquiorrahara8

@@SpikeTheWolf I wouldn't say that. If we're going by titles where his name or moniker is front and center, I've seen Unbound, vs The Elite, All Star, Man of Tomorrow, Red Son, Death & Reign, and Man of Steel. Between those, his easily best for me were vs The Elite and Red Son.. but I just have more of a soft spot for My Adventures' softer handling of the core dynamic. And if we want to go deeper into it with shared titles, I really liked Public Enemies, Apocalypse, and The Return of Black Adam; a lot of that is on the shared dynamic between him and Kevin Conroy's Batman or, in Shazam's case, working off Jerry O'Connell. This probably still isn't enough for my credentials, but sometimes a flawed series with just the right amount of high points appeals to me more than movies that happen to be solid, great, or even fantastic.
@SpikeTheWolf

@iisanulquiorrahara8 I mean it's your opinion, like whatever you want if thats true what you say but I don't agree. Since the 90s we had multiple movies, comics, and live action shows you probably didn't watch or read. I liked the show but wouldn't call it the best to happen to supes since the 90s, like how many are saying.
@iisanulquiorrahara8
10 ай бұрын
You don't have to agree with my opinion. I never said it was the best; it definitely isn't on a 'quality' scale. But I said favorite, not best. I'll be frank, live action shows don't do much for me. Smallville came at just the right time for me to not care for the idea of watching it, so I've just never made the time to sit down and binge it. Even nowadays, we have the CW stuff which is fine, I guess. I'm not too keen on the Superman actor as of my time watching Supergirl, but I hear he's great in Superman & Lois. Just not really all that interested in seeing it. Comics don't grab me as much anymore, either. I'd just rather see things on screen instead nowadays. There's probably some movies I've missed still. Having an HBO subscription has really helped fill in some gaps for me, but I think I'll be okay if I skip ones like Doomsday or Braniac Attacks. On a side note, it's funny seeing your name pop up in a reply. I binged a lot of Blazblue OST here back in the day. That's another series I have a huge soft spot for.
Giving superman an update while not changing the CORE of the character is what matters

So many great moments that solidify this as a solid superman show... but for me it was Clark delivering this line with complete seriousness and belief: "Oh my gosh, bigfoot kidnapped Jimmy!"
The sailor moon transformation was great and Korean Lois Lane is ❤❤❤ 😂 love the fact that she was able to see Clark as Superman unlike all the others before her
I have to say I love the series and that comes from someone who's not a Superman fan.
Episode 9 was hands down my favorite episode. Been waiting for this review 🤘🤘
I always thought that one of Superman's best scenes was when he went full on with fighting Darkseid in the DCAU. Because it showed how much he was holding back. And even then I think that version was still holding back to not hurt those around them. But seeing a Superman who hasn't fully figured out how to hold back or control his powers is nice as well. He still has that thing of knowing that if he doesn't he could break something, someone.
I was starting to think "Why hadn't Angry Joe talked about this show?" lol I love this show

My 4yr old boy loves the 1940s cartoon Superman that i grew up watching, i think ill watch this with him too
It honestly brought me back to the old Animated Superman series in the 90s. I really enjoyed it. No alteration, nothing too extreme, nothing’s complicated. Just the familiar Superman we all know and love. Which honestly with all these alternate versions of our heroes going about these days, this is actually refreshing and relaxing to just revisit the old Superman, not Injustice dictator, no brooding, no conflicting complexities. Just a guy who came from space and just wants to help people. Clark and Lois are just so goddamn adorable in this and I’m glad they’re already a couple and they got the relationship drama out of the way quickly. Their affection towards one another is just so sweet and heart-warming. Overall, great first season. I’m actually for once looking forward to a next season with high hopes.
Glad you enjoyed it Joe, I saw the show as it came out and couldn’t wait to hear your thoughts on it, being huge fan of Superman. 🎉
My gf and I LOVE this show. Love the redesigns of characters in the show and the aesthetic. The artsyle is fun as well!
It's great to see Joe reviewing something that made him happy
Kind of surprised we didn’t get an episode by episode review of the series as it was airing considering how big a fan AJ is of Superman.
Yes there were some parts that I agree were a little cringe but this show as joe said is not so much for older audiences but it’s something I still thoroughly enjoy
I love the flamebird and nightwing reference from the old comics about Kandor.
This series looks so damn wholesome, just what we need these days, I think
I agree that a lot of the conflicts are resolved too quickly. I get that they only had 10 episodes to work with and in just 30 minutes or less it’s hard to do all this set up and payoff, but I wish they’d take their time with it a bit more. Like, the best episodes were episodes 8-10, mainly because it all felt like it’s own arc and took its time to set everything up. All in all, I REALLY enjoyed the show. Lois and Clark are super cute, Superman is handled as he should be, Jimmy’s funny as fuck and relevant, and I dig some of the changes to Krypton’s lore and Clark’s origin. Its like a mix of Man of Steel, the New 52 and a bit of the classic John Byrne Superman and even a bit of the DCAU Superman. Can’t wait for season 2. It’s getting really interesting.
The show is a breath of fresh air superman the animated series is what made me a superman fan this new show is great
It'll probably never happen, but I would love a Justice League Dark animated series. John Constantine is such an interesting character and the cast of mostly characters that deal in magic would be crazy

I’ve watched it all. It’s very good and really nails the essence of Superman.
I didn't think Joe would like Superman doing some weird sailor Moon flamboyant... Change of clothes but you know okay lol
The flamebird thing is a reference to a story they did back in the 50's i think with jimmy
I think this show is great for all ages to watch and love, like avatar the last airbender. They don’t dumb it down like teen titans go but they don’t make it dark and edgy. It’s light hearted yet can be serious and intense at times which pulls you in when it gets to that part.
good to hear this from joe
OT: I haven't seen a video about the Unity situation from you guys yet. I hope you got plans to discuss the situation, cause with your reach it would add much needed pressure to the company. A lot of indy are suffering cause of corporate greed, it would make Joe's corpo alter ego proud in fact. Glad you liked the new Superman show btw. I thought it would be horrible too, but no. They nailed Clark in this imho!

i watched this all my. only gripe is that the last episode didnt feel like it resolved anything so i thought there was more then 10 episodes.. i just want more
I agree with you Joe. Tbh, I'm not even a Superman fan. I only liked when he did badass super strong stuff and his relationship with Lois. This show made me actually like Superman. I'd recommend to anyone who is still teetering on the idea of giving it a try.
I am 18 and superman is one of my favorite superheroes. My dad’s favorite superhero was superman at the time but now it’s Iron Man and we watched the original Christopher Reeve movies, and I fell in love they were so good.
My adventures with Superman does a good job modernization Superman, doing right by the character while doing something different with him. This was a great Superman series. My only nitpick is that evil versions of Superman still found their way into the narrative. I am looking forward to season 2, and I hope that Clark learns the truth about Jor-El.
Wow! it is so good to see good portrayals of Superman! Especially now with the DCEU reboot!
I want more!
It was amazing. I’m so happy for season 2
I really liked this take of Lois. Everyone realistically reacts to someone who would be basically sticking her nose in everywhere and asking probing questions that are uncomfortable and sometimes inappropriate. She gets slapped down. A lot. But she also gets back up, learns from her mistakes, and uses her brains to get around the situation, which is a quality that is often attributed to Lois but not always shown. Especially since she probably managed to figure out who Supes is faster than any other Lois.
This show GETS Superman. He's defined by who is as a person over his power. And who he is a kind man who grew up on a farm and spreads truth.
OH my god I have been waiting for you to review this Joe!!!!! I hope you love it as much as I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edit: I hope there is a season 2 that doesn't have to walk so fast! Glad you liked it Joe!
Needed to hear your take on this Joe
I love this for you Joe
Thanks for talking about this show Joe. It’s super dope 🔥!
I love how one of the main cores of the story is that people who are cynical can't fathom the idea of someone with so much power wanting to do good just because he genuinely wants to. They think to themselves that he has to be doing all these good deeds for his own selfish gain, because no one, least of all someone who's basically a physical god like Superman, would ever just save and help people out of the goodness of their heart, right? And the show is just like "No. He actually *does* just want to help people." After all the repeated edgy takes on Superman, having him be a hero who's actually a heroic paragon is a more subversive take than the "but what if he were evil actually?" ones. "With great power comes great responsibility" may be Spider-Man's arc phrase, but it's a philosophy that really applies to Clark, too. He CAN stop a runaway train when other people can't, so it's his responsibility to stop the runaway train and keep people from being hurt!
Wish we got more with Jor-el, that's my guy
looks like sailor moon when i transform into his superman costume, lol.
Wait. Angry Joe is not angry? This is refreshing!
I'll probably check it to see a return to some traditional Superman mixed with some updates times. I already have Max and didn't know about this.
So.... you CAN enjoy a young Superman focused on his early days at the Daily Planet, huh Joe? - James Gunn
My only problem is that they introduced multiple realities too soon. But it's like a nitpick.
I thought it was good I definitely want to see another season. Although I think it’s a little schmaltzy, some of the animations look unfinished (for example the city of metropolis in some scene is just blue outline on white background), and character development was rushed as in just a few episodes we have the relationship between Superman and Lois, introducing the multiverse and the krypton backstory, it could’ve been a little less spread out
I love that the trunks is in the show
