As a trauma surgeon who's seen what much smaller and well-loved dogs can and will do, I highly recommend avoiding this kind of interaction with a dog. I have seen faces shredded and ripped apart. Noses, lips, and ears taken right off the face. It takes less than half a second. There's no time to react or defend yourself. Then one often ends up needing to euthanize the animal. Very traumatic for everyone. Please do not do this

Dios una amiga tenía su perrita y era tranquila dice ella ,pero un dia estaba la perrita al parecer entre dormida y ella le gruñía asi y mi amiga hizo como él,le enfrentó asi la cara y la perrita le arrancó toda la nariz le quedo el hueco en la cara y ella recogió su nariz y le hicieron reconstrucción 😢no quedo igual pero no permitió que la sacrificaran dijo que la culpa fue de ella no de la perrita,hoy dia siguen juntas,da la vida por su 🐩🐕 pero ver a este chico le puso nerviosa y me recordó.

@Alberto Legra actually I did have a purebred Rottie. No way would she behave like that. If she had, I would have found another method of training her to accept the nail trim. But that's just me.

I've had an angry ferocious damaged dog for 16 years who has been harmed by when he was just a puppy by his monstrous previous owner just before I adopted him and his both legs were broken! So you can imagine how much he was angry and he couldn't trust any other people during the whole time. At first because he needed some special attention to gain his health we didn't want to be very serious about his behavior but after he was lucky to be healthy and everything was fine with his body it was the time to take care of his behavior and at the same time teaching him to trust us and let him know that not everyone wants to hurt him. I believe that was much more difficult than medical care, specifically because he was going to be spoiled by me! And then my husband took that part of my hand 😊 and he was exactly like you, at the same time that he loved him and did everything in his power to make sure our furry baby feels loved and cared and he is secure with us always but as soon as our dog was showing any aggressive behavior my husband get more serious than him😂 and at same time that his actions were based on the fact that we never hurt you and we will never ever leave you alone but you should respect us too and if I do something that you don't like it doesn't mean that I hurt you and the most important thing: I'm not afraid of you. It was so difficult at first according to the awful experiences that our boy had with humans 💔 but after all our efforts the result was amazing. We had the best and most wonderful experiences during those 16 years with Rexy, until last year that sadly it was time for our furry baby to say goodbye. But the only way that we comfort each other is that against all people thoughts that this doesn't work for this damaged dog or their opinions on putting him down at first we found him with broken legs and heart and trust because no one believed that there is any chance for him to be able to trust anyone and he couldn't make it... we stood up for him. Now when I saw your reaction to the angry dog, I know that what you are doing for him. It means I'm not afraid of you but you must know that I won't ever hurt you, you should trust me, I know that it may seems scary to you, but I'm here for you and I absolutely take care of you ❤

And the Oscar for best actor in a drama goes to......Rottie Dangerfield.

MY DOG DOES THIS! I literally had to buy a muzzle to clip his nails. He's a pit mix that we got as a puppy (med size, not large) from our friends and as he got old (he's about 16 now) he tries to scare me to stop clipping or something. He won't bite me but I'm not taking the chance & use the muzzle. I hate to but it's for both of us 🖤

Dog's just showing it really doesn't like getting the nails done but at the same time knows it has to get done. Great communication between the man and his best friend!

I had a Doberman that received nothing but love. My mistake was I did not imprint him. Basically letting him know his place with training. One day, out of the blue, he acted this way face to face while I was sleeping on the couch. I woke up to this behavior. I moved, and he bit me on the upper lip. Just a small puncture. I couldn't trust him after that. This guy is offering his face. Dumb Dumb Dumb!

I love the way he can control him even tho he's not liking it.😂

He loves his boss.

But you shouldn't confirm a dog's fear either. If you were to pet him now, you are giving him confirmation that he is afraid. So you show him that you are not afraid and that there is no reason for the dog to be afraid.

The dog probably got his pulp clipped open at one time, so he sees the clipping as an act of violence.

My dog used to act just like that..its anxiety. Bless his heart he has no idea how ferocious he looks😂 I can tell hes a big baby over his nails!!

Just because the dog is showing its teeth and making some sounds we are thinking it is a fierce and angry dog. But, it need not be. There may be something wrong in our understanding.

What a little sweetheart, the dog knows they need cutting, but has to express the anxiety. The fact the dog picks up the nail clippers and puts them back on the owners lap just shows the bond between the two. Absolutely priceless.

On a totally different note, I once had an inside cat who knew he needed insulin shots. I would call out, "Tommy, its time for your shot" and he'd come running and jump up on the table and patiently wait for it.
