Its more likely that shes just comfy and doesn't want to move. There are some good snake mothers in the animal kingdom but quite alot of mothers just leave the clutch after theyre laid

​@mikusuperfan7699 nah they dont form bonds, but they do have an innate biologiical desire to defend and protect their eggs. They sit on them to incubate them for a reason, but once theyre born theyre completely on their own.

I have one snake who's an absolute doll. Never hisses, never strikes, never has bit me. She is always highly active and loves to explore, when she had her eggs though, WHEW! she got feisty!

I feel like she didn't put much heart into that strike. She was like noooo....ok.

I’m always fascinated by the fact that snake eggs are soft and almost squishy compared to other eggs

I've always been scared of snakes, I couldn't look at one without getting scared, but since I found this channel, I love watching the beautiful babies and their mothers, thank you for helping me overcome this fear :)

She laid her eggs on my birthday! Firefly protecting her babies like I'd protect mine.

I have one female that's insanely puppy dog tame. Always wanting held. Right up until hours before laying her clutch, she still came right out to be held when I changed her water. She's a 7 year old Firefly bred to a Albino Black Pastel Pinstripe. Hatchling right around Christmas day!!!

Nope, not true. Snakes do not store food. if it's her food, she eats it. they do not store or protect "food"

As the eggs dry they'll stick together from a natural adhesive they have when layed and the mom curling around the eggs (or brooding) is what makes them clump together (from watching other snake videos I've learned hognose eggs don't do this, prob cause hognoses don't really curl around their eggs and also sometimes eat them lol)

Ive learned more about snakes from your channel. Awesome. I used to be a little intimidated by them. But now i think theyre interesting. 🐍 Little story: i live in Arizona and we get a lot of Snowbirds tbis time of year. One lady came towards me as i was waling my dog to warn me they saw a rattlesnake. She said if she or her husband saw it again they eere gokng to kill it. I gasped and said no then gave her the number of a repitle re-homing business so they can live peacefully in the middle of the desert. Yes, I know some tbings ciukd eat the snake, thats nature. And that lady needs to have more respect for nature since technically we live on their turf.

She’s a spicy mama is all. It’s not a bad thing at all; spicy mamas make for hatchings that are quite determined to survive. She’s sure pretty - don’t you just love how each snek have their own personalities?! I think it’s my favourite part about ball pythons.

You should check on them pretty often to check for molding or some other problem. If they’re pipping or starting to hatch you should check probably every day

Great channel, and you may have addressed this before, but since I'm new: why don't you wear gloves when you remove the eggs to place in your eggbox? Or is hand washing sufficient and do you just do that?

Are you ever in Texas? (Houston, mostly). I'd love to go somewhere and get to hold some different snakes. I have my main Grey Rat Snake that lives in my barn (with a nice red shading on her) that I see every year. She's gotten used to me and never fusses anymore when I have to remove her from my chicken coop

I wholely trust my ball python and have accidentally fallen asleep with him around my neck and woke up to find him curled up on my chest but I cannot count the amount of times he's taken a snap at me during feedings 😅 I call him my derp noodle for a reason 😂
